Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 129 (Part 1):
Asuka shook his head.
“If you put it that way, I have a responsibility too. You helped me when I was being chased by the Black Hawk, and that’s how they found out your location!”
It was a reasonable point.
Asuka continued firmly.
“I was careless earlier. But now I’ll take responsibility and try to hold off these guys as long as I can. So, don’t worry about the safety of those who are left here and go rescue Dino. If Dino is dead, you don’t have to bring back his body.”
A conclusion was reached. Helmut thought to ask James and Andro when they woke up, but it seemed they would agree to Helmut going to save Dino.
Before dawn, Helmut woke James and Andro. The decision remained unchanged before and after they woke up.
Helmut was going to save Dino. And the remaining three would stay here to confront any possible enemy that might appear.
“Be careful.”
Andro said with a heavy face. James quickly added.
“It might not be an attack on us; it could be a trap there.”
“If they take Dino as a hostage, then…”
Andro’s expression became firm. It meant not to do anything rash, even if it involved a friend taken as a hostage.
Soon, Helmut asked.
“Are you ready?”
“Yes.”
“Go now. It’s going to be daylight soon.”
Just like before heading into a battlefield, they nodded resolutely.
In terms of stakes, this was a small war. It was also their first actual combat experience. Ironically, they had encountered a very dangerous enemy.
Helmut looked around the camp with the three and finally said.
“I’ll go then .”
He dashed out of the campsite as if flying. He ran at top speed, regulating his breathing.
Instincts and senses revived, thoughts erased. To leave and return as quickly as possible.
His only task was to save Dino and return. He did not think about those he left behind until he achieved his goal.
Jumping from tree to tree was faster than running on the ground.
Helmut approached the target area earlier than expected. It seemed to take just over 10 minutes.
He found it. Through the gaps between the trees, a large rock hill was visible. Literally, a giant rock stood imposingly. The rock itself was a hill.
It stood out prominently on higher ground compared to its surroundings, seeming like it could roll down at any moment. But a rock of that mass wouldn’t move easily.
Helmut paused at a visible distance.
Dawn had not yet broken. The day was gradually brightening. The air was refreshingly clear, offering excellent visibility.
Below the rock, a person was lying down. Judging by the physique and attire, it was Dino.
‘Slowly, or right now.’
Normally, one would approach cautiously. But the enemy would have a hard time dealing with a sudden charge. There was no time to delay.
‘I’ll go now.’
With each step he took, trees rustled and shed their leaves.
Thump! Helmut kicked off the last tree and soared through the air. Crossing the distance in one leap, he landed with a thud, kicking up dust.
The impact caused the lying person to shake. Though lying on his back, his body weakly twitched.
Fortunately, it was not a corpse. It seemed to be alive.
‘Where is Fasho?’
He could stab from behind at any moment. While staying vigilant, Helmut reached out to him.
“Dino?”
As soon as he touched him, the guy twitched. Helmut turned him over and laid him down.
“Dino.”
He needed to check his condition and then carry him away immediately. Helmut carefully examined Dino’s condition.
Stimulated, Dino opened his eyes. However, his pupils were empty, devoid of focus. A strange sound came from his mouth.
“Grrrrrrr!”
Suddenly, magical energy burst out from Dino’s body. This was different from a magical beast emitting magic; it was a backlash. Magic was repelling from his body, leaking out.
‘What’s this condition?’
Something was wrong. Faced with an unusual situation, Helmut stepped back from him.
As soon as Helmut created some distance, Dino abruptly sat up and screamed.
“Kraaaak!”
His body stiffened. Standing up, but not with the strength of muscles, it was as if energy alone was holding him up. His eyes, bloodshot, lacked the light of reason.
From his body, the inherent Vis and magical energy were clashing violently. It was a kind of rampage.
Helmut had never encountered such a phenomenon in theory, but instinctively understood.
‘Did they inject magic into his body?’
And quite a lot of it. Magic is a wild force. It doesn’t suit humans. Only those born with a seed of darkness can accept it without issues.
Even a dark mage cannot directly use pure magic; it needs to be converted through their own magical power.
A healthy human forcibly turned into a magical beast. If left alone, he would die from energy depletion.
But it was clear what he would do before dying. Magic awakens aggressive instincts.
The one who had ceased to be Dino immediately identified Helmut as an enemy.
