Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 165 (Part 2):
‘The finalist of the martial arts tournament. His name was Hyde.’
Extraordinarily young, with exceptional swordsmanship. He even changed his appearance with magic. There was something suspicious about him, with a faint trace of magic.
But what does it matter? Dead is dead!
Dolos shouted.
“I am High Priest Dolos. Even in death, whisper my name. Divine mercy shall descend upon you!”
*
The surroundings were dim. Giant rocks overlapped, forming a cave-like structure.
The light leaking in could not fully illuminate the inside. Unlike the outside, the inside was surprisingly cool.
“Where is this place?”
Luke Yeager had a bad feeling. He stared at the back of the Palma Knight Commander.
His mouth was dry, and his body stiffened. The cold air seemed to penetrate his skin somehow.
He hadn’t noticed anything strange while following Lutus Cicero on horseback.
Because one urgent situation followed another, he had no time to feel anything.
It was the Red Scorpion they had been searching for so long. He was only obsessed with the thought of chasing it.
But since seeing this rocky mountain, he felt strange.
The surroundings were quiet, and there was no trace of the Red Scorpion.
The Palma Knight Commander suggested getting off the horse and checking the inside. Luke Yeager could not refuse him because he was his superior.
Until recently, Luke Yeager had followed the Knight Commander without a shred of doubt.
But there was nothing inside. There was no sign of other Palma Knights coming. Maybe, no one else even knew that these two had come here.
He was led here by the Palma Knight Commander, and no one else had heard his words.
Doubt crept in. The guy named Hyde told him. To be wary of the Knight Commander.
Despite rebelling, he couldn’t ignore those words deep down.
“Knight Commander?”
“Do you know where this is?”
Lutus Cicero asked, looking down at the floor covered with sand blown by the wind.
“I don’t know, but does this place have some meaning?”
“Yes, it has meaning. It has meaning for you too. Because this place is…”
His dry tone gained strength.
“This is where your great-grandfather disappeared.”
The place where Darien Deferth, the Sword Saint, disappeared.
“I’ve never heard such a story. Didn’t he disappear somewhere in the desert?”
“This is the last place I saw him before he disappeared.”
“I see. Then, the Red Scorpion…?”
His tone was too calm, so Luke Yeager pressed on with his question. However, he was met with a cold laugh.
“Do you think a mere Red Scorpion could have done anything to your great-grandfather?”
“What?”
Luke Yeager took a step back. Lutus Cicero turned around. There was no sign of drawing a sword, but his hand already held one.
His heart sank. Luke Yeager called out to him.
“Knight Commander.”
There was no ambush. There was no need for one. Although they had never directly fought, Luke Yeager knew he couldn’t win against the Palma Knight Commander. It was a gap he knew without having to prove it.
A heavy voice fell.
“Your great-grandfather was killed by me. I poisoned him, made him unable to resist, and then sent him to the Forest of Roots.”
“Is this a kind of a joke or som…!”
He tried to say it was too much, but Luke Yeager closed his mouth. It felt all too real.
“If you defeat me, you will live, and if not—”
Lutus Cicero’s eyes gleamed with murderous intent.
“You will die here.”
“Why…?”
“Why doesn’t matter. Sometimes, irreversible things happen. You shouldn’t have appeared before me. No, you shouldn’t have come to Basor.”
If he had made a name for himself in another country, Lutus Cicero wouldn’t have recognized him. Even if he had found out later, it would have been difficult to reach out to him.
But he had joined the Palma Knights and was discovered by the very person he should have hidden from the most.
It was destined to end this way from then on.
“Come at me with all your strength. I will grant you an honorable death as a knight.”
The honor of a knight is dying in battle. But if the opponent says so, it’s nonsense.
Luke Yeager gritted his teeth. This was no joke. Lutus Cicero was not one to do such things as a joke.
At that moment, with a loud noise, the surrounding rocks shook violently.
Luke Yeager, who hesitated, looked towards the entrance. Or, tried to.
With a powerful strike, his grip almost fell off. If he hadn’t drawn his sword, he would have died right there.
The murderous gaze of the Palma Knight Commander was fixed on him.
“Do you have the luxury to pay attention elsewhere?”
Of course not. Luke Yeager fully retracted his attention from the outside. He was now fully focused on Lutus Cicero.
Regardless of the reason, whatever was happening, he had to fight. Against the Palma Knight Commander before him!
If he doesn’t win, he will die.
It was the unexpected beginning of a battle.
