Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 169 (Part 2):
The Second Prince wasn’t angry. Instead, he spoke seriously:
“While I won’t deny such calculations, there are many other issues. Sword Saint Darien Deferth is a divine figure in Basor. If it becomes known that he was betrayed and met a mundane death, have you considered the aftermath?”
“I’m not sure.”
“Ridiculously, it would tarnish the Sword Saint’s honor. The people would be shocked and thrown into chaos. This is not just about the Sword Saint’s honor but also directly related to the honor of Basor’s greatest knight order, Palma. This dirty conspiracy would damage the pride of the people of Basor.”
“Is that more important than revealing the truth?”
“Sometimes, a pleasing lie is better than a painful truth. I’m in a position to make that judgment. The king has given me full authority over this matter. Do you think I, a prince, could lead soldiers here without reason?”
The king disfavored the First Prince and considered the Second Prince as his successor. Helmut was aware of this fact too. This just reaffirmed it.
Luke Yeager’s expression remained unsatisfied, but he eventually spoke calmly:
“As a knight, I shall follow Your Majesty’s will.”
“Just keep your mouth shut. That’s enough.”
“Yes, I will.”
“And such facts, originally, should not be known by outsiders.”
The Second Prince’s gaze fixed on Helmut. If an outsider learns facts they shouldn’t, there are two solutions.
One is to eliminate the outsider. The other is to make the outsider an insider.
But Helmut showed indifference, strong enough not to choose either option.
Moreover, he knew this was just a form of pressure.
“I’d like to receive my reward as soon as possible.”
“Are you… leaving Basor?”
“Yes, Luke Yeager has agreed to share half of Sword Saint’s assets with me. I’ll take that and leave.”
Luke’s eyes widened as if to say, ‘What nonsense are you talking?’
Helmut knew that silence bought with a price was more persuasive.
The mention of taking his share and leaving made the Second Prince smile slightly.
“That would also be a reward for helping Luke Yeager.”
“Exactly.”
“Considering you’re not boasting about your deeds, you’re certainly not meant for Basor. You’re already planning to leave without issue.”
“…”
The Second Prince had a sharp edge, not unbecoming of a prince.
“Do you have a master?”
“I have no master.”
“I appreciate that you helped Luke Yeager. It would be perfect if you kept silent about this.”
“The figure from Hyde appearing in Basor will soon cease to exist. Thus, Hyde won’t be able to say anything.”
Helmut planned to return to Baden, to his second year at Greta Academy, as Helmut. His connection with Basor would fade away.
The Second Prince didn’t pry further.
“Where is the body of the Palma Knight Commander? We need to confirm his death. And the red scorpion as well.”
Luke Yeager scratched his nose, looking troubled.
“The thing is…”
And so, Helmut’s previous scenario became the Second Prince’s scenario.
For Basor, it was more convenient to portray the temple as the center of the conspiracy. They had no qualms about this approach since Basor and the temple were not on good terms.
Whether the temple’s conspiracy would be revealed to the public was still a matter to be seen.
The conflict between the two giants, Basor and the temple, was not a problem that could be easily handled.
Hours later, the Knight Commander’s horse appeared in the village alone.
Helmut had loosely untied it when they arrived, so it naturally found its way to an oasis village with water.
This naturally confirmed the Knight Commander’s death as a fact.
Although the red scorpion was dead, they had lost the Knight Commander. With that clear fact, they returned to the capital the next day.
Helmut’s existence was hidden as intended, and upon arriving in the capital, he immediately received a generous compensation, including the reward, from the Second Prince.
Soon after, Helmut visited the capital’s bank with Luke Yeager, carrying Darien’s sword.
Darien’s sword was the key. Inserting it deep into a groove magically recognized the sword and opened the vault door.
Inside the vault was a fortune of 50 million marks.
“Split in half, that’s 25 million marks.”
Luke Yeager’s smile seemed everlasting.
Helmut deeply regretted offering to share the wealth with him so hastily.
Though not a vast fortune compared to the Sword Saint’s reputation, it was still an enormous sum by any standard.
One thing was clear: Luke Yeager was incredibly lucky. Unfairly so.

To avoid getting entangled in another affair, Helmut planned to leave Basor as soon as possible.
Before leaving, Helmut had conversations with two people.
One was Michael. Surprisingly, he asked nothing.
When Helmut visited the Golden Leaf Inn, Michael seemed ready to leave Basor too, having packed his things.
It appeared he intended to say farewell.
“Aren’t you curious who I am?”
“Well.”
Michael smiled brightly.
“We’ll meet again. One way or another.”
It sounded like a promise that he could discover who Helmut was, no matter what.
Helmut thought Michael could indeed find him, but that was a matter for another time.
Helmut bid him a leisurely farewell.
“Then, safely make your way out of Basor.”
“What? Hahaha!”
Leaving Michael’s clear laughter behind, Helmut exited the inn and encountered Luke Yeager waiting outside.
“So, what’s your real name? You can tell me now, right? I swear I can keep a secret.”
Though he didn’t quite believe him, Helmut was prepared to answer.
“Helmut. And I’m actually fifteen.”
“What!”
Facing the wide-eyed Luke Yeager, Helmut added coldly:
“I hope becoming the Palma Knight Commander was worth saving your life.”
“Hahaha, very funny… Remember, my promise still stands, wherever you go.”
“Sure.”
Whether he would need Luke’s help was uncertain, but not just Luke Yeager—Basor owed Helmut.
Someday, he might collect on that debt.
After finishing his conversations, Helmut mounted his horse. White had fortunately recovered completely.
Finally, he was returning to Greta Academy.
It had been a relentless journey, filled with continuous events as if spanning countless years.
During this time, Helmut had grown and avenged Darien. Reflecting on his trials, he felt a sense of satisfaction.
‘There’s still more to do.’
But those too would gradually be resolved. How long he would stay at Greta Academy remained unknown.
Helmut’s presence was too vast for the container of Greta Academy, and he was still growing.
For now, though, Greta Academy was where he needed to return.
Helmut glanced back at Basor for a moment, then spurred his horse.
“Let’s go.”
As he rode off, resolving one chapter and starting anew, his silhouette seemed effortlessly light.
