Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 173 (Part 2):
Teresa’s friend kept smiling at Alea, seemingly indifferent to the chill just by being next to her.
Teresa said casually,
“We thought you two were alone. We’re also just two.”
“So what?”
Alea’s tone sharpened.
“We didn’t give permission to sit.”
“Ah, come on, no need for that. What’s the fun in men sticking together so gloomily? It’s more enjoyable with more people. This one’s on us!”
Alea wasn’t someone who matched the description of being gloomy.
But Teresa spoke unabashedly, flashing a fresh smile at Helmut. It was as if she was completely oblivious.
This was an unusual day. Helmut, who always kept to himself with studies and exams, asking not to be bothered, now had an opportunity since they met in town.
It turned out Teresa’s friend liked Alea. Their targets were different. A two-on-two seemed more comfortable than one-on-one.
‘But these two, why are they sticking together like this?’
Teresa had heard rumors that Alea was unusually close to her roommate.
But observing them together, there was a strange air. Teresa watched them with sharp eyes.
Helmut was known for his expressionless and calm demeanor, but Alea seemed a bit suspicious. Was she possessive over her friend?
‘It’s unlike Alea to act like he’s blocking me. Is that it?’
Previously, Alea’s magic made it impossible to think logically. But now, it was possible to harbor doubts in front of Alea.
Teresa wasn’t one of Alea’s followers. This time, she had her target right.
“Being together like this, you match perfectly. What’s good is good.”
It was a spontaneous meetup. The problem was, the other party didn’t want it like this.
Teresa pushed forward with her characteristic assertiveness. She was famous for her excellent grades and stunning beauty.
Moreover, a skilled mage. It would be stranger if she wasn’t confident.
Helmut wondered briefly how to respond. She was a senior from the magic department but still a senior at the academy. Teresa had maintained a proper distance until now. But today, she crossed that line.
Alea delivered the response. Sharp words flew from Alea’s lips,
“Senior, stop being so clingy.”
Even for Teresa, the tone was cold enough to make her face heat up.
“Ah, Alea, what kind of words are those.”
“Then leave.”
“Who’s interested in you? I’m interested in this one!”
Helmut was momentarily surprised. He had never seen a woman speak to Alea like this. Moreover, her pointing direction.
‘It was me?’
That was also surprising. Usually, the target was Alea, but this time, the interest was purely in him.
She was the first woman to show pure interest in Helmut. Monumental.
Only the attitude was too aggressive to be considered rude. It might work on someone interested, but Helmut only saw her as an annoying senior from the magic department.
And then, a killing intent flashed in Alea’s eyes.
“Is it okay to disrupt someone’s plans because you’re interested? Beyond being rude, you lack decency.”
Alea advised as if warning about Teresa before. As if Teresa was trying to approach her through Helmut.
But now, Alea spoke as if he knew Teresa was interested in Helmut.
‘Why?’
A question flashed by. But perhaps knowing Teresa would be so persistent, she said that. Helmut simply interpreted it straightforwardly.
Alea’s lips curled,
“Do you want to get up yourself, or should I make you?”
It sounded like a threat to use magic to lift her from her seat. A blatant threat.
Even if Teresa was the top student in the magic department’s third year, she was no match for Alea. She knew that.
Teresa cried out as if cornered,
“Oh, such harsh words! Alea, you’re too obsessive over your friend, aren’t you?”
“If obsession is the case, maybe the senior is the one.”
“Do you know, you two always stick together like a couple? Even if you’re not interested in women, you know you might be misunderstood, right?”
Teresa raised her voice sharply. Alea replied lightly,
“Being misunderstood as dating a senior would be worse, wouldn’t it?”
“What… did you say?”
“Do you agree?”
The look in his eyes was as if he was commanding agreement. Helmut nodded lightly.
A sense of humiliation appeared on Teresa’s face. Alea arrogantly gestured with his chin at her. Crushing someone was Alea’s specialty.
“If you understand, then leave.”
“How can you, treat a senior like this…”
“Do you want to challenge me to a duel? I’m not sure if you have the courage.”
“This—this!”
Teresa glared at Alea with a flushed face. As Sian said, there are no normal people in the magic department. It wouldn’t be strange for them to start casting spells at each other in this tense situation.
The situation was cooled down by the arrival of the waiter.
“Um, customers. The shaved ice… is ready.”
The waiter murmured with a voice as tiny as a mosquito’s, quickly placing two bowls of shaved ice in front of Helmut and Alea. He apologized, saying,
“And I’m sorry, but if you raise your voices like that in the store, it disturbs the other customers.”
Teresa’s glaring eyes turned to the waiter.
As he flinched, Teresa’s friend finally spoke up, with a noticeably timid face,
“Te, Teresa. Let’s go.”
Unlike Teresa, her friend was wary of Alea. Dragged out by her friend, Teresa couldn’t hide her anger.
With the situation finally peaceful, Alea relaxed his expression. He casually switched their bowls of shaved ice,
“Here’s your shaved ice. Try it.”
Helmut thought as he picked up his spoon,
‘Is this okay?’
It didn’t matter much to him, being from another department, but Alea was from the same magic department as Teresa. It might be troublesome if they openly got into a dispute like this.
But considering Asuka, who also picked fights indiscriminately and still attended the academy just fine, it probably wasn’t a big deal.
“It’s delicious.”
The shaved ice wasn’t too sweet and melted pleasantly in the mouth. Helmut decided not to think too deeply.
‘Alea will handle it.’
Why Teresa and Alea were so antagonistic towards each other was something he probably wouldn’t understand anyway.
