Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 183 (Part 2):
Asuka’s sword, charged with Vis, sliced through the air, cutting the apple into precisely twelve equal and beautifully smooth pieces that fell to the ground.
Ohhh! The crowd was amazed. Such a feat of swordsmanship was impossible without incredible skill.
The host picked up the apple pieces and showed them to the audience.
“Look at these smooth, even slices! Indeed, the second best of the second year in the swordsmanship department! Incredible skill.”
“Is that guy really the second best of the swordsmanship department second year?”
“Could he be the infamous one…”
Finally, the audience connected the crazy dog with the beautiful girl on stage, their shock translating into votes.
The shock of seeing the crazy dog performing feats as a pretty girl was striking. The contrast and his swordsmanship were impressive.
Feeling a sense of crisis, Sian whispered to the host.
“Can I do something too? I can show a spirit show.”
“Any form of magic use is prohibited!”
“But that’s too disadvantageous for the magic department!”
“If we allowed magic, it would be too advantageous… It’s the policy of the contest, nothing we can do.”
The host quickly turned to the audience to continue.
“Ladies and gentlemen, have you seen enough? Let’s start the voting! There are twelve candidates. Who will be the long-awaited winner?”
Alea, holding a voting slip, asked,
“Who are you voting for?”
Helmut answered quickly,
“Asuka.”
“Why?”
“Because if Asuka wins, each member of the swordsmanship department gets 3,000 marks.”
Both contestants had impressive performances, but stakes were involved.
“Then I’ll vote for Sian.”
Alea said it without thinking and flinched.
Currently, Helmut didn’t know who Alea was. As a girl with lavender hair, she had no reason to vote for Sian, just like Helmut.
Alea awkwardly explained,
“Ah, I, I’m a mage… so I’m voting for the best contestant from the magic department.”
After speaking, she felt a pang of regret.
‘That was a natural opportunity to confess.’
Used to hiding, she missed the chance. Probably the last chance.
With no other option, she had to keep hiding to the end.
Alea sighed. Someday, she would be able to tell.
The vote count ended quickly. The results were surprising.
“This is the first time in the history of the contest that we have joint winners! Second-year Asuka from the swordsmanship department, 182 votes! Second-year Sian from the magic department, 182 votes! The votes are exactly equal!”
The votes had distributed unexpectedly well. It seemed that most had voted strategically, choosing candidates who could bring them money.
“So what happens with the first place? A re-vote?”
Someone from the audience raised their voice. The host shook his head.
“No, in this case, the rules dictate that we declare joint winners. The prize money will be split evenly, with each department’s second-year students receiving 1,500 marks!”
Cheers and applause erupted from the students of the swordsmanship and magic departments. Half a share or not, 1,500 marks were still a tidy sum!
“This year, the second-years have swept it. Academic departments, better luck next year! Now, let’s hear from our winners!”
Asuka stepped forward confidently. However, the second-year students from the swordsmanship department, initially cheering, fell silent as his words echoed through the magic megaphone.
“Hey, second-years! If you have any conscience, collect 500 marks each and cough it up to me! If it wasn’t for me, the swordsmanship department wouldn’t have dreamt of winning.”
Excluding Helmut, who couldn’t compete, and without Asuka, the first years would have faced a similar fate. That was a fact.
The host, sweating profusely, tried to regain control.
“I meant, share your winning feelings.”
“Of course I’m the winner! Doesn’t everyone have eyes? If even one person had proper vision, I would have won outright.”
Asuka seemed frustrated not to have decisively beaten Sian. Sian, arms crossed, looked at him disapprovingly.
“Letting this guy speak about his feelings? He’s not going to do it right. Turn it back to me.”
“Then, next?”
The magic megaphone was immediately handed to Sian.
“Hello? Certified pretty boy Sian from the magic department here! Are you watching, Alea? Thanks for your vote. I gratefully accept the prize money! To commemorate the victory, if anyone wishes, I’ll hit you with the whip!”
Sian provocatively threw out the comment and waved politely to the audience.
Perhaps wanting to experience the whip, quite a few spectators crowded towards the stage. Alea scoffed inwardly.
‘Alea, no matter how famous a pretty boy you are, I won the cross-dressing contest. I have the upper hand over you!’
That was what Sian’s words meant. As Alea’s control over her magic had reduced her fanatical followers, Sian could now make such remarks.
But the real woman, Alea, or even if she weren’t representing the magic department’s pretty boy title, didn’t care who held it. It was absurd to her.
‘Competing over such trivial things. They should rather compete over academic grades.’
They were odd characters. Both winning the cross-dressing contest side by side was also ridiculous.
‘Why does Helmut hang out with these guys? Just for fun?’
They were certainly lively and entertaining to watch.
Alea looked at Helmut, who was still focused on the stage.
Then she suddenly realized. The cross-dressing contest was over, and so was their time together.
Touching her wrist, Alea blinked slowly.
She felt she knew how to break Heike’s magic. It wasn’t necessary to wait 24 hours.
