Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 329 (Part 1):
‘This person…’
His measured strides were not those of a trained swordsman but of someone rigorously educated in posture and demeanor.
More than anything, it was the aura he exuded. A person without wealth or status couldn’t possibly radiate such authority.
If he was neither a swordsman nor a mage, then he must undoubtedly be a man of noble birth.
Helmut could guess his identity, transcending any preconceptions.
However, he couldn’t understand why this man had specifically sought him out among the Rodril group.
Wariness washed over him. The man continued speaking with a composed expression.
“While I lack the expertise to judge swordsmanship, I can say your skill is extraordinary. Quite impressive.”
Despite his disguise, Helmut’s eyes, now dyed blue, remained as sharp as a blade.
“This is the training ground assigned to my quarters.”
His tone made it clear: Whoever you are, you’re unwelcome here. Leave and stop wasting my time.
The man shrugged his shoulders.
“Others can come and go here as well.”
“I wasn’t told that.”
“No one has restricted my access to this place.”
“Then I’ll leave.”
Helmut’s decision was straightforward. Though the man seemed weak enough to cut down without effort, Helmut sensed the presence of knights nearby.
Indeed, such a person wouldn’t have appeared here alone. It might be intentional provocation.
But that didn’t mean he would bow down.
As Helmut tucked his sword at his waist and turned around, a low voice emerged from the man.
“How arrogant and rude. Have you not even considered who I might be?”
What showed in that voice was hostility. It was clear he hadn’t sought Helmut out with good intentions from the start.
Why specifically him, leaving aside the people of Rodril? He still couldn’t understand. He had no connection to the Kingdom of Veneta.
Helmut turned his head back and threw out his words.
“Whoever you are, it’s none of my business. Do you know who I am?”
It was indeed an arrogant and rude attitude, as pointed out. The man’s eyebrows twitched. Just as he was about to open his mouth with anger in his eyes—
“Why are you here?”
A clear voice rang out from the other side. A woman appeared, walking steadily toward them. Teresa.
The man’s expression stiffened, a faint sense of frustration flashing across his face.
“And what of you?”
“I was making my rounds to ensure the comfort of our guests. It seems I came just in time.”
Teresa’s eyes narrowed.
“Is there some issue with one of our guests from Rodril?”
She particularly emphasized the word ‘Rodril.’ It meant don’t forget that this person is with Rodril.
The man’s expression hardened.
“No, nothing of the sort. I’ll take my leave now.”
“Since it’s late, I’ll visit you tomorrow morning.”
Although she was kind of speaking in a commanding manner, she bowed her head respectfully to him.
After the man left, Teresa remained. She stared intently at Helmut’s face.
“If you have no business, I’ll be going as well.”
As Helmut turned around again, Teresa’s voice pierced his back.
“Do you know who I am?”
Why were two people in succession asking if he knew who they were? Helmut still couldn’t understand.
But he did know who she was.
At first, he hadn’t recognized her. Delving into his memory, however, he recalled there was a woman named Teresa during his time at Greta Academy.
A senior from the magic department who didn’t get along with Alea. . And perhaps, someone who had shown interest in him—a rare occurrence.
“Teresa Fidelis. Daughter of Duke Fidelis and a royal mage.”
“That’s not all, is it?”
Helmut reluctantly turned to face her.
Teresa had already taken several steps closer. Under the moonlight, her appearance was alluring.
Unlike her girlish appearance from before, she now had the look of a mature woman.
However, her approach only made Helmut uncomfortable. Particularly because he was in disguise and because someone wouldn’t like this encounter.
“I don’t know anything about you.”
“But I know about you. Though we weren’t close. Alea underestimated me—she really believed I’d just leave because I said so. And now, here’s my chance.”
Teresa let out a small laugh. Immediately after, her expression turned serious.
At her next words, Helmut raised his eyebrows.
“Helmut, so you were alive.”
It was a certainty. Helmut isn’t skilled at lying. Instead of denying it, he asked:
“How did you know?”
Teresa smiled brightly.
“From Aria’s reaction.”
Sian, Asuka, and Alea—anyone familiar with this group composition would find Helmut’s involvement plausible. Yet his altered appearance had prevented confirmation.
While Alea had little interest in Teresa, Teresa paid a lot of attention to Alea, which made it easier for her to connect the dots.
There had only ever been one person who made Alea react so sensitively. So the answer was obvious.
Teresa’s visit here had not been a coincidence. But to meet someone like Helmut was an unexpected twist.
