Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 341 (Part 1):
“You’re still rampaging like a mad dog without knowing your place. You mere commoner!”
Jerome’s face was filled with rage. It was an expression that ‘rage’ alone couldn’t adequately describe. Sabbat spat out.
“You there, step aside. If you do, I’ll spare your life.”
He was also aware of Sian, who always hung around with Asuka. This was the maximum generosity he could show.
“No, we should eliminate him too. He might run to Baden and report us.”
Jerome immediately objected. His anger was too great to show even a shred of generosity.
Sian muttered.
“I was planning to step aside if you asked me to.”
Asuka immediately glared at him.
“You disloyal bastard.”
“I found your attitude annoying too.”
You reap what you sow. Asuka retorted curtly.
“Just go over there and stay put. I’ll handle this myself.”
Although they had fought demonic beasts in the Forest of Roots, the greatest hardship there had been clinging to Elaga’s back.
He hadn’t had any real conflicts in Veneta either, so he was itching for a fight. His fingers tightened on his sword handle.
“I’ll kill every last one of you.”
Even Sabbat and Jerome flinched at Asuka’s fierce aura as he stepped forward with his threat.
But their preparation wasn’t lacking either. Above all, they had superior numbers. Sabbat gritted his teeth and shouted.
“Attack!”
After all, how skilled could a freshly graduated swordsman be?
They had hired not just knights but also experienced Rank 2 mercenaries with extra pay.
While the Mercenary Guild’s policy forbids taking requests that oppress nobles, they sometimes bend the rules when the target is a commoner.
The knights of House Rugal and the mercenaries approached Asuka. They weren’t easy opponents even for him.
Life-or-death experiences bring growth. Though not as much as Helmut, Asuka had also gained something in the Forest of Roots. Growth as a swordsman. Difficult doesn’t mean impossible.
“That’s right, come at me.”
However, their fight ultimately never took place.
“Stop!”
Suddenly, magical energy was felt, and knights appeared from somewhere to block their path.
All of them were formidable fighters. Sabbat and Jerome’s eyes widened when they saw the emblem on their uniforms.
“Why are the Imperial Knights here!”
A man walked out from among the knights.
Strict and cold features in an immaculate white mage’s robe. His clothes also bore the imperial emblem.
Imperial Mage Migelo. A graduate of Greta Academy who, like Alea and Teresa, was the academy’s valedictorian. He was a far senior to Sian and Asuka.
And among the imperial mages, he held a high position as the next Chief Mage. He was a famous figure known to most nobles in the empire.
He slightly bowed his head to Asuka before turning to Sabbat’s group and coldly saying.
“Arrest these people. They have committed serious crimes.”
Several knights stepped forward to bind Sabbat, Jerome, and their group. Opposing the Imperial Knights would be considered treason.
At this point, with even Migelo present, it was impossible for Sabbat and Jerome, imperial nobles, to resist.
Jerome twisted his face and shouted.
“This, this is absurd! How can it be because of that guy?!”
“You’ll find out when you get to the Empire.”
Migelo responded coldly. Several knights led away the bound prisoners.
Once they had disappeared, Migelo’s gaze turned to Sian. The scrutinizing look trying to determine whether he was friend or foe was uncomfortable.
‘He used magic to conceal his presence. I couldn’t even sense him approaching. That means he’s on a much higher level than me.’
With so many knights present, resistance would be meaningless.
Sian blinked. While mages of higher caliber than him were rare, they weren’t impossible to find.
Unlike Alea, while Sian was talented, he didn’t possess once-in-a-century level talent.
Even Teresa Fidelis, who had graduated from Greta Academy as the top of her class, was on a higher level than him.
But he was encountering such people too frequently—that was the problem.
‘But why are Imperial Mages and knights here in Baden?’
Sian’s gaze immediately shifted to Asuka. He had been frozen since the moment the Imperial Knights appeared.
Though he should have been disappointed after getting excited about the prospect of a good fight, that thought had completely vanished. There was no time to think about anything.
