Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 341 (Part 2):
Asuka’s face, full of bewilderment, tried to maintain composure.
“What’s this about? Should I thank you for helping?”
Asuka feigned ignorance. He knew exactly who Migelo was.
For someone like Asuka—who didn’t care about others and was just a swordsman—the fact that he knew who Migelo was proved their connection.
He wanted to flee desperately, even abandoning Sian, but knights had already surrounded the area.
These were fighters far superior to Sabbat’s group. Even Asuka could tell this was a fight he couldn’t win.
Migelo ignored Asuka’s pretense and spoke.
“We’ve been looking for you, Lord Asuka.”
It was a respectful attitude for such a rigid mage. Sian blinked several times again.
Even when Alea had pressed him, Asuka had kept his identity sealed tight. Saying there wouldn’t be any problems.
But now, with the Imperial Knight Order and Imperial Mage swarming around him—
‘What exactly is he?’
A natural question. The answer seemed obvious now.
The fact that so many Imperial Knights had gathered and someone of Migelo’s caliber had moved meant this was an important matter for the Empire.
An important matter connected to the Imperial family.
If Asuka wasn’t a criminal, there was only one explanation: royalty. Realizing this, Sian shouted in disbelief.
“Asuka, you said you wouldn’t get involved with your family!”
But the Imperial family? A member of the Imperial family? Rare genuine surprise showed on Asuka’s face.
“No… How was I supposed to know this would happen.”
“You’re being rude. Do not address such a noble person so casually. This isn’t the academy.”
Migelo pointed out in a calm tone.
‘A noble person…?’
The disconnect in those words made his mind reel. Asuka seemed to feel the same way as he raised his voice with a flushed face.
“This guy is my friend! And who are you calling noble? That’s creepy!”
“I see you’re still in denial. That’s why you’ve been wandering around so freely.”
Migelo narrowed his eyes as if looking at a child.
“We’ve spent quite some time looking for you, Lord Asuka. Let’s go now. They’re waiting.”
Asuka shut his mouth tight. It was obvious who was waiting.
His father. His mother’s tearful face flashed before his eyes.
Sending this much force meant they intended to take him back even by force if necessary. If he were alone, he might have resisted, but Sian was here too.
‘They never cared about me before, so why are they suddenly doing this now?’
For Asuka, it was not just sudden but strange.
But those of noble birth come with restrictions. The freedom he had enjoyed as a minor would be stripped away as soon as he came of age.
But what was clear was that the grace period had ended, and now his father had decided not to leave him alone anymore.
Migelo said in an emotionless tone.
“I received orders to escort you back.”
His eyes briefly scanned Sian. There was no need to think about who the person beside him was.
Sian Rodril. He had already memorized the information about Asuka. Of course, he knew about his friends too.
“Fine, let’s go.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Asuka finally spoke. His face wore an unusually serious expression.
‘I’ll have to settle this.’
Since things had come to this, it wouldn’t be easy to resolve, though it would take some time.
“Sian, come with me. To my home.”
Sian was good with words. Whether that would work on his father was uncertain, but. Besides, he was a model student, the type adults would like. If he brought him along, his mother would probably approve too.
Calculations unlike Asuka quickly formed in his head.
“Why should I? I have no reason to go.”
Sian looked disgusted. Though the situation was tense, he still spoke casually.
For Sian, speaking formally to Asuka would be as distasteful as confessing love to him.
Besides, he was very reluctant because it felt like the kind of place where entering might be easy but leaving wouldn’t be.
Asuka raised both eyebrows.
“Are you seriously going to abandon me and leave?”
“You just told me to step aside earlier.”
“That was then!”
An argument broke out between Asuka, who didn’t want to go alone, and Sian. But the conclusion was simple. Sian had no choice.
Migelo approached Sian. His face was cold and solemn.
“Sian Rodril.”
“W-what?”
“You will come with us. Lord Asuka wishes it.”
Migelo gestured with his chin. As if that settled it. The social hierarchy was at work here. He added, as if to reassure:
“You will be going as a guest, so there’s no need to worry.”
“Right, it’s not like you’ll be dragged to a torture chamber just for hanging out with me.”
Asuka laughed with a whatever-happens-happens attitude.
Standing there surrounded by Imperial Knights and mages, his words carried an inexplicable tension.
“…Fine, let’s go.”
Sian reluctantly agreed. Since it had come to this, he thought he might as well enjoy the imperial experience as a guest who wouldn’t be mistreated.
There was one problem.
‘But what about Helmut and Alea who we were supposed to meet in Baden?’
However, Sian was a mage. He would find a way to contact them.
Thus their destination was forcibly changed. Neither of them knew what would happen there.
