Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 368 (Part 1):
*Crash! Bang!*
A violent noise, as if something was being smashed to pieces, echoed through the air.
And indeed, something was being smashed. It was the sight of a person smashing another person.
The Crown Prince got to witness Asuka’s skills exactly as he had wished. To the point of being utterly sick of it.
Asuka kicked the bloodied, masked men rolling on the ground with a series of sharp, brutal stomps. He smirked, the corner of his mouth twisted upward.
“Filthy bastards! You think you can pull some sneaky tricks just because you outnumber me? Where do you think you’re sneaking into? If you’re going to attack, at least do it together so you’d have a fighting chance.”
It was hard to tell who the real villain was in this scene.
Sian frowned as he used spirits to bind the fallen masked men, ensuring they couldn’t move or commit suicide.
He had quickly grasped what needed to be done here.
Whether it was because his anger hadn’t subsided or because he was exhilarated from fighting after so long, Asuka only stopped after nearly all the masked men had lost consciousness.
Wiping his sweat, he belatedly noticed the two figures staring at him, frozen in place.
“Sian, you okay?”
Sian flinched involuntarily. Asuka, drenched in blood, looked like a demon straight out of hell—a grim reaper from the battlefield.
Sian had never once felt afraid of Asuka before. But now, he couldn’t help but feel a chill run down his spine.
“I-I’m fine.”
The Crown Prince spoke up, clearly displeased.
“It seems you have no concern for my safety.”
“Well, Your Highness, you’re always a target, so you’re probably used to it. But Sian isn’t.”
His blunt remark made the Crown Prince’s face twitch. The Crown Prince pressed his temples and replied.
“The heir of Rodril has risked his life to aid me. He will be justly rewarded.”
“Don’t be stingy. Make sure to take care of me too.”
The Crown Prince snorted.
“You’re a knight. It’s your duty to protect your lord. Do you expect a reward for doing what’s expected?”
“What are you talking about? I nearly got myself killed fighting for you!”
Asuka frowned, clearly dissatisfied. Then, as if struck by a thought, he put on a meaningful expression.
“Then how about this? Just take my side once. That’s all I’m asking.”
“Take… your side?”
It was a vague request. Asuka nodded and pressed on in a demanding tone.
“Yes, it’s not like it’ll cost you anything, so just take my side. It’s not like you’d do it if it were a big deal anyway.”
“…Fine. I’ll do it.”
After all, it was thanks to his cousin’s skills that they had survived this crisis. The Crown Prince agreed readily. It had been a night that left him pale with fear.
He had experienced many new things. As the tension faded, a new emotion began to rise within him.
The Crown Prince’s eyes turned icy as he scanned the fallen masked men.
He gritted his teeth. How could such lawless acts be committed within the imperial palace?
The Temple had already lost its justification.
They were more evil and immoral than the scum of the underworld, resorting to any means necessary. They no longer had the right to stand above humanity in the name of the gods.
‘The Temple will pay for what happened today.’
When the Temple had threatened the life of the current Emperor in the past, he had not yet ascended to the throne.
That was why he couldn’t pass judgment on those who had sided with the other faction.
They claimed it was all according to the will of their god, that they had simply supported another imperial prince.
Admitting their mistake, they promised to cooperate with the Emperor’s reign.
For a while, it seemed as though they had bowed their heads, and the Emperor had forgotten what kind of people they were.
While trying to weaken their power, he hadn’t anticipated their counterattack.
But now, the Temple had openly targeted the Crown Prince’s life. The masked men’s words and their capture were evidence.
There was no way this would be overlooked. Even the Emperor, who had always been cautious and subtle, would be furious enough to change his stance.
Controlling his anger, the Crown Prince spoke to Asuka and Sian.
“It’s been a long night, and you’ve endured much. Well done.”
Having regained his composure, the Crown Prince now wore the expression of a ruler. An air of authority emanated from him.
Asuka and Sian exchanged glances. What would happen next was now out of their hands.
“Your Highness!”
Not long after, a loud shout came from outside.
The situation was quickly brought under control. As soon as Asuka and the others had dealt with the enemies outside, a few imperial knights had gone to summon help from the imperial palace.
They had returned with reinforcements to the imperial library.
The starry night sky had already begun to shift to a bluish hue.
Asuka muttered as he looked out the window at the sea of lights.
“Ah, it’ll be dawn soon. No time to rest, huh.”
And his premonition was spot on.
