Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 467 (Part 2):
Heike used magic to deflect wind resistance. Soon, the golem plunged into the fog. Moisture particles pelted their skin, stinging with the speed of their movement. But the clash of demonic energy below had stopped. Had it already ended?
“Detection magic isn’t working. Was it around here?” Alea frowned. The fog obscured the ground entirely.
Helmut said firmly, “It was nearby. Descend.”
As the golem tilted downward, a flash of light pierced through. An unsettling sensation grazed Helmut’s cheek like a flame.
‘Sacred magic!’
A powerful gust of sacred magic scattered the fog. Steamy, hazy wind slammed into their faces, and soon a clear scene unfolded before Helmut’s group. Everyone they sought was there.
“Helmut!” Asuka shouted.
The scene below was a spectacle. Scattered demonic beast corpses littered the ground, the earth scorched and ravaged. Thankfully, all four humans stood unharmed—even the High Priest and Holy Knight, whom Helmut half-wished had died in an accident.
‘No loss of strength, so that’s good?’
They’d clearly been through a brutal fight, though none looked pristine. Elaga’s condition didn’t need checking. He stood on all fours, squinting. And beside him…
Helmut raised an eyebrow.
‘Baharek?’
Not waiting for the bird to land, Helmut leapt off.
*Tak!*
He landed in front of Elaga, who spoke lazily.
[You’re late.]
“You fought Baharek?”
[He came at me.]
“He’s alive? Why didn’t you finish him?”
Helmut’s hand went to his sword. Baharek, sprawled on the ground, twitched and shook his head side to side. Judging by the demonic energy radiating from him, he still had fight left. He must have taken a direct hit from sacred magic. With Elaga here, was there a need to waste holy power? Helmut was puzzled.
Elaga’s voice came leisurely.
[Leave him be. I think it worked.]
Helmut stood beside Elaga, watching Baharek. The rest of the group, now landed, gathered around. As all eyes focused on him, Baharek slowly rose. His gleaming eyes scanned the surroundings.
[What’s this…]
[Yo, you back to your senses?]
Seeing Elaga, Baharek jumped.
[What, what’s that! Elaga? Why are you here? And bringing humans into my domain!]
For someone who’d fought so fiercely moments ago, it was an odd thing to say. Helmut grew even more puzzled.
Elaga stepped toward Baharek.
[Arrogant fool, isn’t it obvious? I’m the one who brought you back to your senses!]
[My senses… right, that’s what happened.]
Baharek blinked, as if only now grasping the situation.
[Do you remember how you lost your mind?]
[It’s… coming back. Not the middle part, though. What did you do to me?]
Baharek eyed Elaga with suspicion. Elaga smirked arrogantly.
[I figured a hit of sacred magic might snap you out of it. Simple, right?]
So Elaga had lured Baharek toward the High Priest. In the process, the demonic beasts swarming the four humans were crushed as collateral damage. Baharek, in his “me or everyone’s an enemy” state, had left the surrounding beasts nearly obliterated by the two demonic beasts’ clash.
The four humans escaped one crisis only to face another—Baharek, still fighting Elaga, right before them. Then Elaga spoke.
[Hey, High Priest.]
“Yes?”
[I’ll pin him down. Hit his head with sacred magic. A strong one. Got it?]
He glared, warning, [You’re a High Priest, so you can aim for Baharek only, right? Make sure that sacred magic doesn’t touch me.]
“I’ll… try.”
[This isn’t because I can’t handle him alone. There’s a reason, got it!]
The reason could wait until after. Just as he finished, Baharek lunged. Elaga leapt, kicking off the ground. Moments later, his teeth clamped onto Baharek’s nape, pinning the thrashing beast down with his full weight.
And right on cue, Levina’s sacred magic was complete.
