A pillar of light fell from the sky, striking down toward the holy sword.

Immense holy power descended in a single line onto the holy sword.

The holy sword summoned Lumen’s power through the sacred barrier, manifesting it there.

It was majestic and holy, like a scene from myth where the sun descends its essence to the earth.

The holy power gathered in the holy sword turned to light, spreading like veins through the rock.

Cracks appeared in the rock, splitting wider. The annihilation of holy power and magi was occurring there. Fiercely, for the last time!

The victor was clear.

Crash! Rumble!

Moments later, with a deafening noise, the rock shattered and collapsed.

The rock fragments melted away in the remnants of white light.

And when the fading light completely vanished, the holy sword, having expended all its power and turned to scrap metal, fell to the ground.

It crumbled to dust right where it landed, scattering away.

Thus, the entrance to the demon realm was completely shattered and closed.

Unless someone artificially created a connection between the worlds, the demon realm would not open again.

The strange light swirling in Sian’s eyes slowly faded. His mouth moved.

“It’s all over. Now…”

The power flowing from his body cut off abruptly. Sian collapsed to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut.

Asuka rushed over and checked on him.

“He’s lost consciousness!”

“Is it just a matter of returning now?”

Luke Yeager asked with a cautious expression. At that moment, a distorting noise tore through their eardrums.

WHIIIIINE! BOOM!

The air shook entirely.

No, the entire space they stood in. The earth, the sky—everything was trembling.

“The space is collapsing! Everyone, over here.”

Alea shouted loudly. Asuka, carrying Sian on his back, quickly gathered.

“We can’t escape with teleportation magic.”

Heike spoke calmly. As the exhausted sacred barrier collapsed, the seal on the Forest of Roots was lifting.

And in its aftermath, the entire central space was twisting.

With nowhere to flee, massive waves closed in from all sides.

Alea urgently opened the dungeon.

The final method she had prepared to hide in with Helmut if they failed to defeat the Demon King—she had to use it now.

Thanks to the mana stones she brought, she had the capacity to cast the spell.

But the chaotic atmosphere made it difficult. Heike grabbed her anxious shoulder.

“Take it slow. I’ll support with a protective barrier.”

“Yes.”

Her mind calmed quickly. Alea tried again. After much effort, she managed to open the dungeon entrance.

It trembled at the edges but was wide enough for people to pass through.

“Hurry in!”

Asuka with Sian on his back, Luke Yeager, then Levant—they quickly stepped inside.

Helmut glanced back briefly but had to turn into the dungeon at Alea’s firm head shake.

Now only Alea and Heike remained.

“Heike, you go in too.”

Heike shook her head with difficulty.

“I’m maintaining the protective barrier. You go first.”

Alea’s eyes wavered.

Heike was right. It was proper for her to enter first, then Heike to withdraw the protective barrier and follow.

The moment the protective barrier vanished, this space would be crushed.

The problem was whether the dungeon entrance would hold after she entered.

It had barely opened from outside. If she, the mediator, disappeared, the dungeon…

“Heike.”

“Hurry.”

“You…”

There was no other way. If Heike went first and Alea stayed behind to die, the dungeon would lose its master.

If the dungeon collapsed while the outer space was unstable, the safety of those inside couldn’t be guaranteed.

“I’m an archmage. I’ll find a way somehow.”

Heike smiled. Her characteristic confident smile. It moved Alea.

‘Yes, because it’s Heike.’

As an archmage, she could achieve things beyond what Alea knew. It must be needless worry.

Alea shed her hesitation and stepped into the dungeon entrance.

“Come right after.”

Leaving only those words. Heike stared at the dungeon entrance where everyone had vanished.

She couldn’t enter there.

The dungeon entrance was connected to this place. The waves from the sacred barrier’s collapse were enough to crush even that.

Her role was to completely close and detach the dungeon entrance to prevent any influence.

Heike crushed all her remaining mana stones, drawing up mana.

The protective barrier was shrinking. Her mana was depleting rapidly.

It was accelerating. Probably soon.

But a faint smile lingered on Heike’s lips.

‘I’ve lived long enough.’

It was fortunate she could be remembered as an archmage who cleared her name and died achieving something great.

For the first time in a while, she thought of her son.

‘He was such a handsome fellow.’

A talented mage too, but unfortunately died young.

Still, she had raised Alea responsibly, so let’s call that debt paid.

Heike raised her hand and closed the dungeon entrance.

Like how Sian had closed the demon realm’s entrance. She sealed the space, completely blocking the entrance, then withdrew her mana.

The protective barrier shrank past where the dungeon had been, down to just in front of her. Now there was nowhere to escape.

‘May you all be happy.’

Heike closed her eyes.

Soon, the protective barrier shattered.
