Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 72 (Part 1):
“……”
It was a brief conflict. Alea would be upset if she found out, but Helmut had the qualifications to enter the room. He had the means. And he was somewhat curious.
“Fine.”
Helmut made his decision. Since when had he cared about someone’s opinion? Alea’s personality was not to be underestimated, but Helmut was no different. He had no qualms about entering someone else’s private space when he could kill people without hesitation. It wasn’t a big issue.
Helmut inserted the key into the lock. At that moment, someone rushed towards him and called his name.
“Helmut!”
“Sian?”
“Wow! Now you’re calling my name.”
Helmut rarely called his name. Sian looked delighted by that fact.
“Oh, this isn’t the right time. I didn’t realize earlier because I was distracted, but this is Alea’s room! The room of the top student in the first year of the Magic Department!”
“Do the top students in the Magic Department use this room regularly?”
“Yeah, they usually get the last room. It’s quieter than the ones in the middle. But why were you assigned here? Alea uses a single room. Something seems off.”
“Is there a problem with that?.”
“Have you met him already?”
“I went to see the headmaster.”
“So you’re here to enter?”
Sian’s golden eyes sparkled with interest. He didn’t have a mischievous look, but he seemed to share some of the characteristics of spirits.
“That could be interesting. I want to see the inside too.”
Sian urged him with a nod. When Helmut turned the key, he heard the sound of the lock being released. Click. Sian tensed up, hiding behind Helmut.
“What are you doing?”
“Alea might have cast defensive spells against intruders!”
It seemed like Sian wanted to use Helmut as a shield. He opened the door, and there was nothing unusual. Sian sighed in relief.
“Wow, this is Alea’s room. It was like a forbidden area. Almost as good as the girls’ dorm.”
Helmut was taken aback by Sian’s words. Alea’s room wasn’t particularly extravagant or meticulously decorated. It was elegant but had a clean and simple feel. Soft pillows lay on the slightly tousled white sheets, as if she had just woken up. A scented candle filled the room with a relaxing fragrance. The double curtains blocked out light perfectly, and when pulled back, thin, translucent white fabric allowed sunlight to filter in.
A small table was placed within arm’s reach of the bed, equipped with stationery. Beside a separate desk with drawn curtains, there was a bookshelf filled with books, and the desk itself was covered with books that looked like they were borrowed from the library. Several notebooks and fine pens were neatly arranged. Alea’s room seemed perfectly suited for both relaxation and focused research.
What could be said about the owner of this room was that they pursued practicality and were wealthy. And the room was spotlessly clean, as expected of a magician. So, other students from different departments often wished for rooms like magicians’.
“It’s not as extravagant as I thought. I wondered if she had some strange hobbies. But apart from her personality, there are no flaws in this guy.”
Sian roamed inside like it was his room.
“He’s rich and handsome, but his personality is the only downside. If he just fixed that, he’d be perfect. Oh, does he still attract girls like he used to?”
“Alea said it was annoying.”
He didn’t understand what was so great about being popular with girls, at least from Helmut’s perspective. Alea’s case made it seem like a very troublesome and tiring matter.
“Maybe that’s true. People often don’t realize the value of what they already have. Hey, weren’t you somewhat popular with girls in your hometown?”
“There was no such thing.”
There were no girls around, to begin with. He seemed to be somewhat popular with monsters, mainly as prey.
“Really? Surprising. Hey, look at this.”
Sian found something by the window. It was a potted plant with brightly colored flowers. It looked familiar. Helmut frowned slightly.
“That’s…”
“A potted plant with flowers. Did he receive it as a gift? Alea, unexpectedly, has such a taste. I thought anything plant-related would wither and die as soon as she touched it.”
It wasn’t a big deal, but the fact that he had it as a gift made it somehow difficult to say.
“…Maybe it’s for experiments?”
As Sian reached out for the potted plant, his hand recoiled as if he had touched something dangerous. He looked at the plant with caution.
“It could have a security spell on it since it’s by the window.”
Having finished exploring, Sian asked, “Are you going to stay here? If Alea comes back, it’ll be chaos.”
Helmut had a strange feeling around Sian, but he knew Alea’s temperament well. Personalities didn’t change easily, if at all. She might even use offensive magic right away. Helmut asked Sian indirectly.
“What do you think will happen if Alea complains?”
Sian shrugged.
“There won’t be any exceptions. I’ve never heard of an error in dorm assignments.”
It wasn’t a coincidence that Helmut had been assigned as Alea’s roommate. Sian smiled slyly.
At that moment, Alea burst into the Academy Headmaster’s office. Not just anyone could enter the headmaster’s office. Appointments had to be made through the administrative staff, and a temporary access pass for the scheduled time had to be obtained.
But Alea was an exception. She was the only Academy student who had a pass to the headmaster’s office. This was because Alea had known the headmistress of the Greta Academy, even before she enrolled.
Clang! Alea opened the door without knocking.
