Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 93 (Part 1):
“Do you understand? Oh, I think I see that beer house. Don’t you smell the alcohol?”
Sian led the way with a fuss. Asuka, who was about to throw a punch, quickly followed.
As he said, an open bar with the door open was visible. It was early, so there were hardly any people.
Chairs and tables were out on the street in front of the store.
Usually, they would have partitions to separate them, but this place had tables and chairs set up directly on the street.
“Let’s sit here.”
Sian chose a table as if it were a familiar spot. Asuka and Helmut also sat down, and a waiter brought out the menu.
Helmut looked at the menu, not sure what to order, and asked, “Aren’t we going to inhale dust by eating here?”
“It’s all the same once it’s in your stomach. Are you trying to act like a noble just because you grew up in a fancy mansion?”
“You surprisingly care about this kind of place.”
Asuka and Sian looked at Helmut with strange glances. It was an unjust accusation.
Without a doubt, among them, Helmut had lived the most challenging life. The first time Helmut had ever slept in a proper bed was when he left the Forest of Roots.
“I’m just curious why you chose this place instead of the inside.”
“It’s stuffy in there, don’t you think? You have to eat while feeling the breeze outside to truly enjoy the taste of the alcohol.”
“True, you seem to know something after all.”
Asuka’s words made Sian nod in agreement.
“Indeed, Instructor Ethan would never dine in a place like this.”
“He wouldn’t even put a sandwich on a plate and cut it with a knife, would he?”
That was true. Ethan Kudrow was more suited to the description of a noble than an instructor.
“If it’s your first time in a place like this, just leave it to us.”
Helmut lost his right to speak as soon as he was robbed of the menu, and Sian and Asuka excitedly ordered food and alcohol.
It didn’t look fancy, but it looked more like a restaurant attached to an inn.
However, the goulash served with skewers and white bread that came out with beer was quite delicious.
“Hey, this place is cheap and good?”
“Right? If you ask the guys who go around well, they will give you good information.”
“Why do you hang out with this guy when you have so many friends?”
Asuka pointed at Helmut.
“He’s dark and fierce, doesn’t talk, and isn’t even fun.”
Helmut, who was pointed out, drank beer without a word.
Sian’s face turned red with just two beers. With his tongue twisted, he vomited his true feelings.
“Fun? I’m having fun. I knew it the moment I saw Helmut.”
“What?”
“When I’m next to this guy, a lot of fun things will happen!”
Although he seemed mysterious because he was deep and flexible and handled most situations well, in fact, Sian’s inner thoughts were simple.
‘Was that the reason.’
“What? Are you already drunk?”
Unlike Sian, Asuka looked fine.
Asuka showed characteristics that were opposite to what he looked like. Both the tone of speech, behavior, and alcohol tolerance.
“I think I’m fine, we’re still in the first two glasses.”
“Then why are you sticking to Helmut? What do you like about this guy?”
“He doesn’t ignore me because I’m a commoner, and he also helps me as a schoolmate.”
“So you were moved?”
When Asuka asked with a smirk, Sian blushed.
“Who said I was moved? I thought all the guys at Greta Academy were bad and useless, but I found out that there are guys who aren’t like that, that’s what I mean.”
Helmut remained silent.
“Well, let’s go with that.”
“You seem to be scratching subtly?”
“Did you just notice that now?”
Asuka made a clicking sound when he took the glass of beer with his hand.
He had never used violence against Sian, who was relentless in teasing him about sensitive topics. It was unclear whether he refrained from touching people who were not swordsmen.
After a while, Sian eventually buried his head on the table, groaning.
“Ugh, I feel like I’m going to die.”
“After two glasses of beer? Are you even human?”
Asuka, who had gone to the restroom after the third glass of beer and came back to have two more, was still fresh. It seemed like he could handle even ten glasses without any issues.
Helmut set his glass down. He had emptied his plate of food, and his belly was pleasantly full, and the beer was going down smoothly. He didn’t feel drunk at all.
Helmut had a high tolerance for both poison and alcohol. In other words, he didn’t get drunk easily.
“Do you want more?”.
“I’ve had enough. What about Sian?”
“Should we leave him behind? I don’t have a hobby of carrying drunk guys, and I don’t think you do either”.
Asuka replied, giving Sian a glance. It was a gaze as if he were examining something quite annoying.
It seemed like he had completely forgotten that Sian had saved him from a crisis not long ago.
Or was it Helmut who had saved him? Sian had just been there, not doing much.
“Anyway, should we go? Should I pay?”
“Let’s try waking him up first,” Helmut suggested. He gently tapped Sian’s cheek. He seemed conscious, but his eyes remained closed.
“My head… it’s melting away,” Sian mumbled.
Asuka, who had gone inside the store, frowned as he came out after paying.
“The sun hasn’t set yet, look at that. Let’s just leave him.”
One by one, the customers who started to sit down giggled at Sian.
“He’s so weak. Why drink to the point where you can’t even move?”
It was common sense to drink in moderation according to one’s tolerance, but Asuka didn’t seem to care about that just because he was Asuka.
He had a high tolerance, that was for sure. Even if he drank a lot, he wouldn’t get drunk, so there was no need to worry about it in the first place.
Helmut pondered for a moment. He didn’t have the same standards as Asuka, but he also didn’t want to carry a drunk person.
He had never experienced someone collapsing before.
Sian suddenly raised his head.
“My pocket…”
“Pocket, what?”
Asuka checked Sian’s pockets. A small vial with liquid inside popped out.
“This?”
“Give it to me. I need to take it.”
Watching Sian fumble in the air, Asuka opened the vial and pushed it into Sian’s mouth.
