How the Regressed Munchkin Chews Up the Tower - H.R.M.C.U.T Chapter 19 (Part 2):
Unlike most players’ items, Park Jihoo’s gauntlet was of a notably high grade.
He’d said Didaskalia, an Administrator, had personally given it to him in the tutorial floor, so its quality needed no explanation.
The Sulfur Deer’s jaw shattered.
Broken bones tore through its flesh, revealing the sheer force of the blow.
A pained scream erupted from the Sulfur Deer’s mouth.
“Everyone, move!”
The final blow was Ishia’s.
Her faintly reddish sword, 『Crimson Lotus [E]』, aimed for the Sulfur Deer’s skull.
A perfect, ruler-straight line.
A mesmerizing sword path only a lifelong master could achieve.
The sensation of slicing through the air.
Transmitted through the sword to her fingertips, it filled Ishia’s mind with euphoria and liberation.
And then—
*CRASH-!*
The blade tore through tough hide, shattered even tougher bone, and sliced into the brain.
An impeccable strike, unbelievable for a Level 1 player with no skills.
『Crimson Lotus [E]』 entered through the crown and exited through the shattered jaw, embedding itself into the dirt.
“Huff- huff-!”
Ishia and the others watched the Sulfur Deer with tense faces.
They feared it might not be dead and could attack again.
But…
No third-rate horror movie nonsense happened.
*THUD-!*
The Sulfur Deer, bleeding profusely from its head, collapsed.
Ishia stared wide-eyed at the astonishing result her sword had produced.
They’d killed a monster.
It was far more thrilling and exhilarating than when they’d killed the axe-wielding maniac in the city.
■ You have defeated the common monster, Sulfur Deer.
■ Level up.
■ Achievement 『A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step』 unlocked.
■ Achievement Reward: Skill 『Basic Swordsmanship [D]』 granted.
She’d even leveled up and unlocked an achievement.
And a skill as a reward!
It was only D-rank, but the difference between having a skill and not having one was immense!
Ishia and the others began shouting in excitement.
“We did it!”
“We killed a monster!”
“Hahaha! Aren’t we the first players to do this?”
“Maybe. Honestly, I doubt other players have started hunting yet.”
The group was visibly elated.
Ishia was no exception.
She was only Level 2 now, but she felt several times stronger than before.
How could she not be thrilled?
“That was easier than I thought. At this rate, we might conquer the top floor in no time.”
“Didn’t they say it’s 100 floors? With this pace, we could clear it in less than a month.”
“No wonder Korea’s a gaming powerhouse! No one can match us at this!”
The tension they’d been holding melted away completely.
“Let’s try taking down two next time. With this teamwork, I think we can do it.”
The shield-bearer, buzzing with excitement, suggested.
“Sounds good!”
“I’m in!”
“M-me too.”
No one opposed his idea.
One or two—it didn’t matter.
They felt confident they could handle it.
* * *
“Hm?”
Yujin looked up, scanning his surroundings.
“I thought I heard something.”
He strained his ears.
But all he could hear were the groans of Red Goblins.
“Must’ve been my imagination.”
Finding nothing unusual, Yujin lost interest.
Nothing around here could threaten him anyway.
Even the Floor 1 boss, the Earth Dragon, had been reduced to sashimi by his hands, so common monsters, even by the truckload, didn’t faze him.
“Let’s get back to it.”
Shrugging, Yujin looked down at the Red Goblin he held by the scruff.
It had been beaten so badly its face was unrecognizable, barely clinging to life.
“Hey.”
Yujin shook it, rousing the unconscious Red Goblin.
“Ugh, uuu-.”
Regaining consciousness, it writhed in agony from the excruciating pain in its face.
Yujin leaned in close and whispered.
“Hey, I’ll let you live, so go fetch your parents. Got it? I won’t move an inch from here, so you’d better bring them.”
Red Goblins could somewhat understand human speech.
Whether it took Yujin’s words as a threat or mercy, the Red Goblin nodded frantically, terrified of further beating.
“Good. Now go.”
Releasing its scruff, the creature crawled away from Yujin.
“Not gonna run? If you make me wait too long, we’ll start over.”
*Flinch-!*
Only then did it force its barely functioning body upright and sprint away.
Yujin grinned, watching the Red Goblin’s retreating figure.
“Normally, this would be a huge mistake, but not for me.”
Letting even a single Red Goblin escape during a hunt meant returning to Terra immediately.
The reason was simple.
It would trigger a catastrophe.
A disaster so massive that even a Level 30 player, not just a Level 10, would be devoured in an instant.
But Yujin thought differently.
The real catastrophe wasn’t the Red Goblins.
It was him.
“Come back soon. I’m getting bored.”
Yujin’s eyes gleamed with greed as he watched the Red Goblin disappear.
