I Got A Legendary Sniper Rifle - GLSR Chapter 11 (Part 1)
「Goblin Bone Round (F): 250」
“This should be enough.”
After three days of repeating the 7th Floor, Hyun had gathered a total of 250 bone rounds.
That number was slightly lower than it could’ve been—he’d fired off a few as tests.
The effects of the Goblin Bone Rounds were exactly as Hyun had imagined.
The bullet speed was so fast that firing and impact felt nearly simultaneous, and the rate of fire had also increased significantly.
‘No loud bangs either—it’s easy on the eyes.’
Also, he’d leveled up once during the process.
Now his level was 9.
He hadn’t distributed his stat points yet.
‘By now, I won’t level up once per floor anymore… It’s about time I start some grinding.’
Satisfied with the results, Hyun carefully cleaned his rifle and cloak before leaving the 7th Floor.
A quiet clearing.
As always, he was just about to head home when the mood on the street suddenly shifted.
AEEEEEENG———
A piercing siren rang out through his ears.
As people looked around in panic, a public broadcast followed.
[ Gate, Gate occurrence. This is not a drill.
We repeat: A Gate has occurred. This is not a drill.
All citizens are advised to remain indoors.
If outdoors, evacuate to the nearest shelter immediately. ]
Gate.
Hyun stopped in his tracks and focused on the broadcast.
Whether it was training or a real mission, it was a sound he’d heard more than enough times.
[ All Hunters hearing this broadcast are requested to deploy to Gaecheon Intersection immediately.
Your help is vital to saving countless lives. ]
The end of every Gate alert always included the location and a plea for Hunter assistance.
Still, not many Hunters rushed in just because of a broadcast.
Even if the monsters from a Gate were weak, most Hunters would end up in grueling melee combat with them.
And honestly, high-level Hunters dispatched by the Special Forces or Management Bureau would arrive soon anyway—there was little incentive to dive in and risk themselves.
However—
Even if no one else moved—
‘Does that mean I should hold back too?’
Hyun had many reasons not to go.
For a sniper, understanding the terrain is paramount.
Gaecheon Intersection was nearby, but he’d never once viewed it with tactical eyes.
A sniper with no read on the terrain wouldn’t just charge in blind.
Moreover, Hyun was currently keeping his identity hidden.
If the connection between him and “One Shot” were to be discovered…
No—just the appearance of One Shot at that location would already provide more than enough clues.
It would narrow things down to Seoul, specifically Seongnae-gu, within South Korea.
Honestly, no one would blame Hyun for not going.
Publicly, he was just a rookie Hunter who’d barely cleared the 3rd Floor.
And even that fact was known only to Deokhun.
The government had zero expectations for such a Hunter to respond to a Gate.
But—
If Hyun went, he could save lives.
What had he vowed, back when his mana rifle first awakened?
He’d made a pledge to never let another 2nd Platoon happen again—to prevent another tragedy.
‘Save people.’
Tadadak—
Hyun immediately took off running.
「Stealth: 15 → 30」
All the stat points he earned from leveling up were invested into Stealth.
This wasn’t the time to worry about whether it was worth it.
Now that he’d decided to head for the Gate, this was the only way to hide One Shot’s identity.
With the sudden spike in his Stealth stat, Hyun’s body underwent subtle changes.
His Agility likely increased slightly too—but more importantly—
Srrk—
The presence Hyun emitted began to fade drastically.
Nowhere near as effective as using a Stealth Cloak, but still, any average person wouldn’t notice him at all.
Because “Stealth” wasn’t a stat that only applied to his rifle.
It also helped hide the presence of its user.
‘This should be enough… I can handle it.’
As he ran, Hyun clenched his fists tighter.
Still, to avoid being seen by other Hunters, he set a clear goal:
End it before they arrive.
“Dismount!”
“Dismount!”
Near Gaecheon Intersection, a black Special Forces vehicle screeched to a halt and fully armed soldiers leapt out.
These were troops from Blue Dragon Special Operations Battalion’s 1st Company, Hyun’s old unit.
This particular truck carried 3rd Platoon.
The 3rd Platoon Leader, Park Hee-jun, immediately began deploying personnel and equipment.
“Set up barricades at the front! Hey, you moron! Who told you to put it in front of the alley? You trying to get us killed?!”
“Sorry, sir!”
No matter how much you trained, actual combat was a different beast.
Hee-jun harshly scolded a rookie who had set up a barricade incorrectly.
Next came sniper placement.
“Sergeant Lee, take your spotter and get up on that building. This is an E-rank Gate, so at most we’ll see Orcs. Shoot well! If anything tougher shows up, call for support!”
“Yes, sir! Come with me!”
After setting up barricades and snipers, it was time for the assault squad.
For 3rd Platoon’s entry team…
“…Sergeant Park.”
“Yes, sir.”
Hee-jun frowned slightly at the rigid face of Gun-woo, the squad leader.
Gun-woo was what people called dead weight—no one knew how he was still in the Special Forces.
Maybe he was politically savvy; he had high popularity among non-commissioned officers, which likely helped him hold onto his position. But officers whispered a storm of criticism.
He talked like he could take down an ogre, but as soon as the mission started, he panicked.
His peer, Sergeant Choi Hyun, had once been the loudest voice calling for his dismissal.
Hee-jun, recently promoted to Second Lieutenant, couldn’t say anything directly.
But it was obvious why Gun-woo had been passed over for promotions and only now made sergeant.
Having to rely on someone like him was frustrating—but it couldn’t be helped.
The military was a machine.
Hee-jun pointed at a map spread on the ground.
“Here—civilians are trapped in the Myeongseong Building. The entry team needs to reach the building, rescue the civilians, and bring them back.”
“…It’s a bit far, though.”
Gun-woo’s displeasure was written all over his face.
The Myeongseong Building was situated at the very center of Gaecheon Intersection.
Naturally, that meant the most monsters would be there.
