“…Shit.”

The Warlord’s javelin slammed into the exact spot Hyun had just been lying on.

The once-grassy hilltop was now torn open like it had been raked by the claws of a giant beast.

This wasn’t just a notorious mid-boss in name only.

‘I’d have died without the Soulmate stats.’

It was a paper-thin escape.

If Hyun were still just a regular Awakened, the javelin would’ve killed—or critically injured—him.

He owed his survival to that shared stat boost.

Hyun rolled a few more times, making his way to the opposite side of the hill.

Maintaining stealth was now crucial.

Even if the Warlord sensed his presence by instinct, it was better than being visually confirmed.

‘Time to invest more in Stealth.’

Hyun had somewhat neglected it until now, but clearly it needed attention.

Now hidden, he peeked out just enough to observe the Warlord.

The monster was still standing in throwing posture, scanning the hill.

It seemed to sense that Hyun had dodged the attack.

To think someone could evade its javelin.

Hyun couldn’t read a goblin’s expression, but even he could tell—it was surprised.

The Warlord then slipped back behind the tree.

‘A sniper duel… in the Tower…?’

A sniper duel between a gun and a javelin.

No other sniper in the world had likely faced something so absurd.

Just remembering that javelin made Hyun shudder.

But he laughed.

“A sniper duel, huh…”

He didn’t feel like running.

No—he couldn’t.

He looked around.

There wasn’t enough time or cover to relocate.

Time for a head-on fight.

Hyun climbed back up to the ridge and re-mounted his rifle.

He didn’t allocate any of his remaining stats to Stealth.

Right now, he needed to draw the Warlord out.

He calmly aimed at the tree where the Warlord was hiding.

‘He might dodge just from the sound of the shot.’

This was a monster that found Hyun from 400 meters away, purely on instinct.

If Hyun had dodged a javelin, it was only fair to assume the Warlord could dodge a bullet.

Hyun waited for the one moment the Warlord couldn’t dodge.

And then—their eyes met again through the scope.

‘Alright then.’

He welcomed that gaze.

‘Bring it.’

Would it work?

Could this reckless plan really succeed?

He had no choice but to try.

Like a spider lurking in darkness, Hyun waited.

And then—

Fwshhh—!

The Warlord confirmed Hyun’s location and hurled another javelin.

The same direct trajectory as before.

Through the scope, the javelin grew larger and larger—

But Hyun remained calm.

Didn’t flinch.

‘Not yet…’

He waited for a sniper’s second time—

That instant.

His eyes, his scope.

His rifle barrel—and the incoming javelin.

And the Warlord, fully exposed after throwing.

All in one perfect line.

‘Got you.’

This was the moment Hyun had been waiting for.

TAAANG——!!

Explosive firepower erupted from the barrel.

But the rifle’s precision and stability tamed the recoil.

Hyun could clearly watch, through the scope, what his bullet was doing.

CRACK—

It swallowed the javelin and surged forward—

Traveled 400 meters in a blink—

Tore through the Warlord’s shoulder and upper torso—

SPLAAANG—!

Then smashed into the ground behind him, leaving a crater before vanishing.

That glittering armor? Nothing more than a flashy decoration before overwhelming firepower.

———!!!

The Warlord screamed, buried halfway in the crater.

Whether in pain, rage, or both.

‘…Do I need one more shot?’

Even after losing a third of its upper body, the Warlord writhed and shrieked.

Hyun watched, disturbed.

A second shot would be unfortunate—but missing the kill due to hesitation was unworthy of a sniper.

Just as he placed his finger back on the trigger—

Flump—!

The shrieking Warlord’s body went limp.

Dead.

Literally a one-shot kill.

「Goblin Warlord defeated.
You have cleared Floor 5.
Grade: S+」

「Item ‘Choi Hyun’s Sniper Rifle’ has leveled up.
Check status window…」

Multiple notification windows popped up.

As usual, Hyun ignored them all.

Instead—

BANG—! BANG—! BANG—!

He pulled the trigger without hesitation.

The goblins who had been rushing up the hill froze in shock after seeing the Warlord fall.

To Hyun, they were perfect targets.

His Rapid Fire stat of 7 helped significantly in mopping them up.

Soon, the green plains were spattered with the dark red blood of goblins.

The once-noisy camp had fallen eerily silent.

All the work of a single sniper.

Only then did Hyun lower his rifle and check the notifications.

Once again, an S+ clear.

“Still… this time was a little different.”

Unlike before, where it was just pulling the trigger, this time was a real sniper operation—minus close-quarters combat.

It was a moment that confirmed Hyun was truly a sniper.

Achieving five consecutive S+ clears—through the so-called “Demon’s Gate”—gave him a strong sense of accomplishment.

Next, it was time to check the rewards.

Level-ups could wait—stats could be distributed later.

「5th Floor Reward:
You have acquired 1 E-rank Magic Stone.
Check your inventory.」

Unlike earlier floors, this reward wasn’t an F-rank stone, but an E-rank.

And though the quantity was down from 3 to 1, it didn’t matter.

“Being able to raise Mana with this is huge.”

F-ranks were now useless to Hyun—just 50,000 won each.

But an E-rank?

It was worth 1 full Mana point.

Next was the S+ reward bonus.

“Probably another E-rank stone—wait, what?!”

He had expected the usual, but instead—

「S+ Clear Bonus:
You have acquired the item ‘Stealth Cloak (D)’.
Check your inventory.」

This time, it wasn’t a stone—it was an item.

Occasionally, rare clears would yield an item instead of a stone.

And items were far more valuable.

In terms of both price and utility.

Especially with a name like—

“S-Stealth Cloak…?!”

It already smelled like a jackpot.

Hurriedly, Hyun opened his inventory.

A gray cloak occupied one slot.

Hands trembling, he pulled it out.

It was light, durable—and soft.

He checked the stats:

「Stealth Cloak (D)
Blends with surrounding colors when worn.
Increases Stealth, but decreases movement speed.
Stealth breaks upon attacking.」

“Ooh!”

Sure enough, when he put it on, it shifted colors to match the grass.

Move to torn-up earth—it turned brown.

On top of that, it boosted Stealth.

A D-rank item indeed.

And to think he was about to buy a ghillie suit just days ago.

‘Ghillie suit? How primitive was I before Stealth Cloak?’

If he’d wasted money on a smelly, high-maintenance ghillie suit, it would’ve been awful.

And since it’s not a Tower item, he could’ve ended up walking the streets wearing it—like a lunatic.

Sure, the cloak slowed movement a bit—but that wasn’t even a real downside.

Even ghillie suits had that issue—and once worn, it wasn’t that noticeable.

Plus, the cloak auto-equips upon entering the Tower.

And since Stealth breaks on attack? Well, for a sniper, that’s par for the course.

If it didn’t break, now that would’ve been broken.

‘Stealth Cloak… this thing’s amazing.’

Hyun put it away into his inventory like a precious treasure.

Next up—the E-rank Magic Stone.

It was slightly larger than a thumb segment, worth around 200,000 won.

Four times more expensive than an F-rank.

But Hyun’s decision didn’t change.

「Item ‘Choi Hyun’s Sniper Rifle’ has absorbed the E-rank Magic Stone.
Mana: 31」

Sure enough, the magic rifle gobbled up the stone and grew stronger.

“Come back someday as an S-rank stone~”

After storing the rifle away, Hyun calmly summoned his status window.

「Choi Hyun’s Sniper Rifle
Lv. 6
Firepower: 13
Range: 3
Precision: 10
Stability: 10
Stealth: 7
Rapid Fire: 7
Mana: 31
Unassigned Stat Points: 20」

20 points remained.

‘Let’s keep 10 in reserve for now…’

Clearing the 5th Floor in a single shot meant he could continue his rapid ascent.

Mana would be boosted with stones, so he held off on that.

After a moment’s thought, he began allocating points:

「Firepower: 13 → 15」
「Range: 3 → 5」
「Stealth: 7 → 10」
「Rapid Fire: 7 → 10」

A neat distribution of 10 points.

Aside from Mana, all values now ended in multiples of 5—Hyun found that satisfying.

Today proved that just boosting Firepower wasn’t enough.

He was alone—if he got injured or died, it was over.

That was reason enough to spread the points out.

Besides, as he leveled, Hyun himself also grew stronger.

A final notification appeared:

「Would you like to exit Floor 5?」
