- M.L.E Chapter 53: Real-World (Part2)
The teleportation spell I cast was successfully invoked.
As the surroundings changed, we arrived in an unfamiliar plain along with sixty vanguards.
What set it apart from a typical plain was the presence of three Sky Fortresses in the sky, and nearly a hundred vanguards surrounding us.
And as we appeared, spatial interference magic was unleashed, blocking the enemies’ escape.
I took back the cocktail glass I had handed to Arcia for a moment, emptied its contents in one gulp, and then leaped off the airship.
“Immediately disarm and surrender. Then, your lives may be spared.”
They couldn’t believe the situation and failed to react properly. Understandable. After all, they were completely at my mercy.
“Alright! He’s Marquis Adrian Lawrence!”
“Huh?”
However, a man in a vanguard suit with the Viscount Doherty’s family crest suddenly shouted my name loudly.
His abrupt action soon became clear.
“Once we capture the Marquis of Lawrence, the war will end!”
That was his scheme.
‘Oh, I didn’t expect this.’
Currently, the forces, under Adrian, had surrounded an area with a diameter of about 500 meters, forming a circular siege.
And at the center of the siege, there I was with sixty enemy vanguards.
This was a situation in which the enemy could have high expectations.
It seemed sufficient for them, as they probably expected to handle a mage who was the polar opposite of vanguards and weak in close combat.
“Marquis Adrian! Surrender peacefully!”
The enemies, now transformed from their pitiful state, rushed towards me in an instant.
It was my troops who were taken aback by this.
-Thud!
However, what they overlooked was the presence of Arcia, an Aura Master, and my combat capabilities that made them fearless even in the face of vanguards.
“How dare you.”
“It’s countess Klein!”
Arcia, leaping down from the airship, armed with vanguard equipment, blocked my path.
In an instant, a battle of 60 versus 2 unfolded.
[We must save His Excellency the Marquis!]
[Move quickly!]
Allied vanguards from all directions rushed to save me and Arcia, but…
Upon witnessing the battle that unfolded, the subordinates recalled the experience of the Parma’s forces and abandoned their urgency.
‘Did I make a mistake by not considering this situation? No, it’s because there’s no value in considering it in the first place.’
This situation couldn’t even squeeze into the category of a crisis.
“Surrender quickly!”
Rays of light filled my vision and arrived before my eyes.
Each blow was a Vanguard force attack with the power of a 6-circle magic level.
Normally, this would be a situation where one would be cornered.
Even a 7-circle Archmage would need a brief casting to resist against a 6-circle magic.
On the other hand, vanguards emitted force with each swing of their swords, making the notion of elemental strengths irrelevant.
“Surrender is something you should do.”
However, through battles in the Viscounty of Parma, I confirmed that with well-timed use of a 5-circle hard shield, one could deflect the vanguard’s attacks.
Of course, deflecting shouldn’t be an easy task…
However, having a game where in-game experiences are shared with real-world sensations isn’t something that everyone has, especially when fierce battles are repeated countless times!
-Ting!
“What the hell?”
I found it surprisingly easy.
The 5-circle hard shield unfolded at an exquisite angle, deflecting the force that extended like a beam.
And the Vanguard revealed a gap the moment his attack is blocked, because there is a momentary delay in the process of converting the aura into force.
‘Laser Cannon.’
-Kwaaaang!
Before using the Hard shield, I had been casting a 6-circle attack magic, which I fired at point-blank range.
“Thunk!”
The vanguard’s head exploded.
Magic is most potent right after its manifestation, and its power decreases as the distance from the caster increases.
I took advantage of this characteristic.
“Alright, hold on.”
-Kwaaang!
“God!”
-Kwaaang!
“Gasp!”
-Kwaaaang!
From then on, I simply evaded Vanguard’s attacks or used my hard shield, then blew off his head right away.
As the number of casualties quickly surpassed five and reached ten, the vanguard from Doherty’s faction, who had previously ordered them to attack me, urgently shouted.
“Shit! Kill them, don’t surrender! At that moment, the territorial battle will be over!”
Huh, did they start rushing in without caution?
I sneered and, as if directing a command, aimed my magic staff at Doherty’s vanguard, who was screaming frantically.
‘Flame Blast.’
Upon doing so, the 7-circle grand magic I had ‘memorized’ released its terrifying presence and extended towards the target.
If he was close, eliminating him with a 6-circle magic would be enough; but he was a bit far, and I wanted to deal with him with a single 7-circle grand magic.
A simple yet highly effective combat style.
“Yelp!”
Doherty’s vanguard attempted to evade, swallowing futile air, but the deployment speed of the 7-circle magic was not slow enough to allow for escape in a defenseless state.
In the end, he relied on the defense of the Force Armor and wielded the Force Sword to counteract the magic.
-Kwaaaaang!
Nevertheless, it was a futile endeavor.
“Ugh!”
Fortunately, he survived, but he was knocked down and unable to move.
Having sorted out the talkative commander, I, along with Arcia, faced the vanguards rushing from all directions.
“What kind of magician is this!”
“This is the line I heard the most today.”
“Thunk!”
Dodging Force Swords aimed at my vital points while casting spells.
Using the hard shield to divert the flying force in a ranged attack.
Switching positions frequently with Arcia, we created confusion among the vanguards attacking from all directions.
It might seem like a situation where things could easily get out of control, but Arcia and I have quite a bit of leeway.
According to what the subordinates said after the battle in Parma’s territory, our fight seemed more like a dance than a fierce survival struggle.
I don’t take their words literally, but perhaps it indicates that we felt relaxed enough.
“Ah…”
Despite the enemies’ aggressive attacks, they ultimately couldn’t break through Arcia’s and my defenses.
As the timeout approached, the enemies were gradually subdued by the allied vanguards that came to support us.
The battle was over…
“Thank you for your hard work, my lord.”
The vanguard commanders from Marquis Lawrence’s faction approached with awkward smiles.
[Relationship: Friendly/ Obedient]
[Status: Fear/Worship]
Most of their emotions recorded by the glasses were like this.
While we successfully instilled a powerful presence in our subordinates with just two battles, it seemed a bit excessive.
Taking out a drink from the extradimensional space and sipping it, I spoke to my subordinates.
“Now there are no more variables. Let’s end the territory war soon.”
“Yes Sir!”
My subordinates all responded with proper manners, giving me salutes.
It feels quite good to receive salutes from subordinates showing awe.
“Can I have a drink?”
“Orange flavor?”
“No, peach.”
“Okay.”
However, while savoring the feeling of being a victor, I immediately woke up from my reverie at Arcia’s request.
