Reincarnated With the Book of Knowledge - RWBK Chapter 109 Ancient Sword Style
Momonga stood before Rhodes, exuding an air of superiority in swordsmanship, Haki, and physical strength that even Diamante couldn’t match. He was a flawless machine, capable of facing any situation with ease, and could withstand even the most powerful attacks of someone like Doflamingo.
Rhodes, on the other hand, paled in comparison. Though he had always been an all-rounder, he was lacking in many areas, including physical strength, domination, and swordsmanship.
As Rhodes watched in surprise, strange breaths emanated from Momonga’s sword, difficult to see with the naked eye but palpable to the senses.
“Sword intent?!” Rhodes exclaimed, his eyes narrowing in awe.
With a flick of his wrist, Momonga’s sword emitted green energy that gradually deepened until it became a bright, earth-shattering color. The sharp, cold aura it emitted was so intense that the wind felt like it carried a sharp edge, causing slight pain on people’s faces.
Rhodes was impressed. “Can sword intent be added to a strike?” he mused, taking note of Momonga’s cutting-type sword intent that followed the same path as Mihawk, the world’s number one swordsman.
Momonga let out an unprecedented roar, and dazzling brilliance shot out from his eyes. He lifted his long sword, and the tip of the sword, the blade, and the person were almost connected, with a unique charm. His spirit and energy were perfectly condensed as if he wanted to merge all his strength together.
“Ancient Sword Style: Secret Technique: Mountain-Cleaving Strike!” he shouted, unleashing his sword energy with a fierce strike that sent a bright green sword energy soaring into the sky, reaching several tens of meters high. It was earth-shattering and seemed capable of tearing apart the sky. The people in the Rainland saw this scene from a distance and were incredulous.
Rhodes felt a thrill run through him. He wielded his sword with both hands, exerting all his swordsmanship, Haki, and thunder power to the fullest, and then swung his sword with all his might.
This strike had no name, but it was one that Rhodes had fully erupted with and pushed to the limit.
The two sword energies collided, and the earth shook with their power. The sword energies cut each other, exploding into a chaotic symphony of buzzing sound and blinding light that rivaled the sun.
The airwave produced by their clash was so powerful that it swept everything in its path, even the brilliant deep blue thunderbolts that interweaved into an earth-shattering energy wave that destroyed everything in its path and finally broke through the air wave, rushing towards Momonga.
Rhodes had emerged victorious from the clash, leaving the Momonga looking bewildered and astonished.
“What?!”
The sudden defeat stunned Momonga, who was already impressed by Rhodes’ strength. Even with his ultimate move, enhanced by his unique swordsmanship and the might of his physique and spirit, Momonga still couldn’t match Rhodes’ straightforward attack, and was still defeated head-on!
And was heading toward him now, was still the same energy slash that defeated his strongest technique!
In Momonga’s eyes, Rhodes’ lightning powers came from his sword intent; both of them used the same technique and slashed at the same time, yet he, Momonga, as a respected Marines Vice Admiral, fall to his opponent.
The shock of the defeat didn’t affect Momonga’s reaction. However, his ultimate move had already taken a toll on him, and he could barely make an attack before being struck by the lightning. The electrical discharge crackled and danced, but Momonga’s quirky hairstyle didn’t seem to change much.
“You won,” Momonga conceded, impressed by Rhodes’ skills. The move he had just made, called the Liestan, was his most potent swordsmanship technique.
He had given his all in terms of swordsmanship, physique, Haki, and physical power, and the strength of his move was like a mountain collapsing. But even so, Rhodes was able to block it head-on.
In a sword fight, in his point of view, this was equivalent to a defeat.
Rhodes shook his head in response to Momonga’s compliment, sheathing his sword calmly. “I just had an advantage with my lightning powers.”
Rhodes knew that his swordsmanship skills were exceptional, but compared to Momonga, who was a Vice Admiral, there was still a considerable gap between them.
“This time, my victory was mostly thanks to my lightning powers, which represent chaos and destruction, with unmatched killing power. They gave me the edge during the exchange of sword moves.”
“Regardless, a win is a win,” Momonga said, dismissing the discussion.
“But don’t you want to join the Marines? With your potential, you could become an Admiral or even a Fleet Admiral,” Momonga offered, admiring Rhodes’ talents.
“It’s a matter of personality. I don’t think I’d fit in with the Marines,” Rhodes replied, declining the offer. He then called Vivi and Robin over, and they began to discuss Crocodile’s conspiracy to overthrow the kingdom of Alabasta.
Vivi detailed every step of Crocodile’s plan, from inciting a rebellion to the evidence Robin had gathered. She handed it over to Momonga for inspection.
“Is this enough?” she asked.
After reviewing the information in his hands, Momonga looked at Rhodes with a slightly strange expression.
Saving a Princess was quite an interesting play, indeed. Ah, to be young again. Momonga sighed inwardly, thinking that youth was truly a beautiful thing.
He stood still for a moment, lost in thought before finally speaking up. “This matter involves too many parties. I cannot make the decision myself. I must report it to the Fleet Admiral.”
“Please do what you must,” Vivi said elegantly, with the air of a royal princess about her every gesture.
Meanwhile, Robin looked at Crocodile lying on the ground like a dead dog, then glanced at Rhodes, who looked indifferent. She couldn’t help but be impressed. “He actually won,” she said. “It seems that our new boss’s strength is quite reliable.”
Robin’s eyes flickered, and she gradually began to feel a sense of belonging.
Her special status meant that she was being watched by the World Government. Only a truly powerful figure had the qualifications to protect her.
Although Rhodes didn’t currently possess that kind of power, his potential was limitless. He would almost certainly become a peak-level figure in the future.
Compared to the ambitious yet “weak” Crocodile, Rhodes was clearly several levels stronger.
