Bernard was at a loss for words.

Because the number wasn’t much different from what he himself knew.
In other words, Adrian hadn’t just blurted that out.

It meant Adrian had an accurate grasp of the County’s administrative structure.

“I intend to provide them with employment.”

“…Excuse me?”

All of a sudden?
No, more than that—

“What kind of employment…?”

“Weaving, crafting, pottery, dyeing, textile production, decorative goods, daily necessities—things like that.”

All of them were types of productive work women could absolutely handle.
Though each field did require a certain level of expertise.

“I’ve already prepared all the relevant equipment and materials.”

Adrian nodded toward the endless line of supply carts arriving.

“I’ll provide full support so they can learn whatever matches their aptitude and capabilities.”

“…”

“They’ll be paid for their labor. But of course, taxes will also be collected accordingly.”

Only then did Bernard grasp Adrian’s true intention.

This wasn’t about relying on outside aid—it was the creation of a self-sustaining economic system within the County.
Now, Bernard could finally understand Adrian’s earlier words: “Supplies for the normalization and restoration of the County.”

“I’ll handle the larger framework and structure, Bernard.”

“Yes, please give your orders.”

“You’ll take care of the detailed implementation.”

“…Me, sir?”

“Not confident?”

“It’s not that, but…”

Bernard hesitated for a moment before speaking again.

“It’s just… since we’re dealing with women, I’m worried I might overlook certain details.”

A subtle difference in perception that comes from gender—
It was an unavoidable limitation.
Bernard was clearly concerned that such differences could significantly affect the results.

This task, after all, was directly tied to the County’s “revival.”

“Hm…”

Adrian paused, seemingly acknowledging the concern.

“Then have Serapia assist you.”

“You mean Lady Serapia?”

“…Ah, now that you mention it.”

Adrian suddenly remembered.

“What happened to Serapia?”

“She recovered safely, thanks to you, Lord Adrian.”

Bernard gave a respectful nod as he answered.
But Adrian’s expression remained oddly serious.

“Did anything strange happen?”

“Strange, as in…?”

“I mean mentally. Did she seem different from before she collapsed? Did her tone or behavior change? Is she missing memories or showing signs of confusion…?”

Adrian’s string of concerns went on and on.

‘So he was worried about her.’

It seemed Adrian had been deeply concerned all along.

Even if he acted like he hated her…
Even if he talked like he wanted to kill her…

In truth, Adrian didn’t feel that way.
No matter what anyone said—
Serapia was his one and only younger sister.

“She’s not fully recovered yet, but there were no abnormal symptoms.”

“…That’s a relief.”

Adrian let out a deep sigh of relief.
So deep, in fact, that the white breath he exhaled resembled chimney smoke.

Anyone could see—

He was just a worried older brother.

“She’s sleeping at the moment, but if you’d like to quietly check on her—”

“No. I’m not wasting time on something so pointless.”

Adrian immediately scowled, his face twisting as if at something repulsive.
But—

‘He’s embarrassed.’

Bernard could now tell that this wasn’t how Adrian really felt.

“Anyway, as long as she’s with you, there won’t be any problems, right?”

“Of course.”

Bernard nodded with confidence.

As a noble, Serapia possessed tremendous capability.
That much was obvious, considering the previous Count had entrusted everything in the family to her.

Even if—

“I already said I’ll handle the structure. You just carry out the details.”

—even if the roles had now been reversed.

“Lady Serapia will surely be delighted.”

Under Adrian’s regained leadership, the County was starting to unite.
Little by little, the County was beginning to revive.

All of that would become a source of comfort and pride for Serapia.

Bernard could already picture how happy she’d be once she woke up.
Just imagining her smiling brightly filled him with an even stronger sense of responsibility.

Meanwhile, Adrian—

“Have the new recruits caused any trouble while I was gone?”

—changed the topic out of embarrassment.

“Given their numbers, I thought I’d struggle to keep control, but… there haven’t been any incidents.”

“Really?”

Adrian gave a small nod, looking somewhat surprised.

“What about Kai?”

“He’s currently overseeing a joint field training camp with the new recruits.”

“…Field training? Wait—‘camp’?”

“I was told it was under your direct orders, Lord Adrian.”

“Me?”

“Was it not?”

“I only told him to handle the basic training.”

It seemed Kai had taken things into his own hands.

A brief pause.

“They’re not dead… right?”

“…”

Bernard couldn’t quite bring himself to respond.

The training grounds of the snowy field, as the harsh winter slowly passed.

But the air remained frozen under the year-round cold.

“Hrk…!”
“Haaap…!”

The Visters were climbing a snow-covered hill.

Their breath froze midair as they exhaled, turning to pale mist, and the falling snow battered their faces and bodies like a blizzard.

Then—

“All units—maintain concealment posture!”

The knight with blond hair at the front—Kai—shouted.

His voice, amplified with Aura, rang clearly in the ears of the Visters.

All at once, the Visters buried themselves in the snow.

The sound of their frozen breath spread faintly.
Their fingers and toes began to go numb from the pain—

“The snow isn’t just an obstacle. It’s cover. Concealment.
If you want to survive here, you need to become one with it.”

The Visters didn’t budge an inch, fully merging with the snowy landscape.

“Move again.”

At Kai’s second order, the Visters sprang up in perfect sync and began running once more.

They kept going up and down the snow-covered slope again and again.

“Huff… huff…!”
“Gahh… urgh…!”

Their legs were trembling like jelly, and their soles were already covered in blisters.

“L-Lord…! How much longer…!”
“How much longer do we have to…!”
“…suffer like this?!”

Finally, complaints erupted from the ranks of the Visters—

“I… I don’t know… huff…”

Sarphadon—once the leader of the Black Grasp—

“…I really don’t know, you f***ers…”

—could only whimper, his face covered in snow and ice.
