The Lord Who Levels Up by Devouring - LLD Chapter 41: Dragon Rage Explosion (Part 1)
Kai’s deep blue eyes—
They locked onto the fleeing monsters.
The monsters, trembling in fear, stumbled awkwardly.
Kai didn’t slow down. In fact, he only accelerated, closing the distance even faster.
He could not let them get away.
They might return one day and threaten the County once more.
Adrian had already wiped out nearly half of them with his unbelievable performance.
It was a feat hard to believe from just one person.
But at the same time, it meant that the other half still remained.
Normally, monsters didn’t form “legions.”
They might band together for survival, but not into organized legions.
This was an unnatural phenomenon, something Kai had never once witnessed during his time in the House of Whitewolf.
No, not just here—even across the entire continent, nothing like this had ever been seen.
He didn’t know how such a thing was possible.
‘Someone is controlling the monsters.’
A clear purpose. A coherent command structure.
Creatures that should’ve been fighting each other in the wild were now unified, moving under a shared hive-mind.
Which meant they were likely breeding at an abnormal rate.
The one controlling the legion could easily force them to reproduce.
Just looking at the size of the current monster legion made it clear.
There shouldn’t be this many monsters in the Snowy Mountains.
The food chain kept their numbers naturally in check.
Which could only mean one thing—someone had artificially forced their reproduction.
So even the few that survived today would multiply in no time.
Another legion would form, and another invasion like today would follow.
That was certain.
They couldn’t be allowed to escape.
They had to be annihilated.
Even the few monsters running now would multiply in just a few months—
And come back to trample the County beneath their feet.
Kai’s blade, pulsing with blue Aura, slashed across the fleeing Demexus’s back.
Fwhoosh—!
The Demexus let out a shriek of agony and collapsed.
But Kai didn’t stop.
He charged at the next monster, swinging his sword without hesitation.
There was no mercy in his hands. No hesitation in his movements.
The more the monsters fled, the more ruthlessly Kai pursued and butchered them.
Some monsters lunged at him with claws and fangs.
Kai twisted his body lightly to evade, then drove his blade into their hearts, crushing skulls with clean, brutal precision.
His silver armor was stained with blood, only to be wiped clean by the falling snow—again and again.
Chaotic noise rang in his ears.
Adrian’s strength had been unbelievable.
But it hadn’t been enough to completely destroy the monster legion—only about half.
No warrior could stand alone against an entire legion.
Except one.
Serapia.
Only she.
Among everyone Kai knew, Serapia was the only one capable of such a feat.
And the reason was simple: the bitter frost dwelling inside her body.
It was both a curse and a power.
But a curse was still a curse.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t use it.
She shouldn’t.
This time, they barely made it through thanks to Adrian.
But next time might not be the same.
And so—
‘I’ll kill them all here.’
Kai’s sword, tearing through monster hearts, grew even more ferocious and swift.
And just as he skewered yet another one—
A strange thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.
…Something’s wrong.
Thud.
His body froze.
As if he’d turned to stone, Kai couldn’t move at all.
Aura, which had been circulating freely through his body, suddenly stopped.
He wasn’t alone.
All the fleeing monsters were frozen too—like ice statues.
Only then did Kai realize it.
Something had taken hold of their minds—something overwhelming.
‘This is…’
Dragon Fear.
Just like what he felt when he faced the Ice-Drake…
No. This was different.
This was like—
Like standing face-to-face with the supreme being of all creation.
A true Dragon.
Kai had never actually seen a real dragon before.
But he was certain—this was the pressure a dragon would emanate.
Of course, there were no dragons here.
Even the Ice-Drake was nowhere in sight.
Slowly, Kai turned his head.
And there stood none other than Adrian.
He was in the same position he’d last seen him—calm, unmoving.
But now, for some reason, Adrian didn’t feel human.
His appearance was still human, yes.
But what Kai saw in him was… a dragon.
A dragon pushed to its very limit, barely restrained.
And then—
That terrible restraint was shattered.
“Wait—hold on—!”
Just as Kai cried out in alarm—
KWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH—!!!
An enormous column of flame erupted from Adrian.
Bitter frost gave way to searing heat.
The freezing cold that once bit at the flesh vanished in an instant.
The heat rushing into Kai’s lungs felt like it would set his whole body ablaze.
Kai hastily deployed his Aura.
Stronger than he had when blocking avalanches, he wrapped himself in a dense veil of Aura.
With squinting eyes, he gazed ahead.
And saw it.
KRRRROOOOOOAAARRRR—!!
Exploding—
Dragon Rage Explosion.
A massive, furious dragon awakened from Adrian’s outstretched arms.
It reared its colossal body and swept forward.
Its gaping maw opened wide, as if to devour all living things.
The first thing to burn—was sound.
Then, the snow and ice blanketing the County ignited and evaporated into thick mist.
Steam enveloped the area.
Melted snow turned into vapor and dispersed into the air.
