The Monarch Who Levels Up by Devouring - M.L.U.B.D Chapter 9 (Part 2):
I frowned and looked toward the source of the sound.
Wolf King Seorin.
Unlike regular Silver Fangs, this wolf walked on two legs like a human.
It stood about three meters tall.
The creature glared down at me, accompanied by 40 Silver Fangs.
“Grrr. Human. Alone.”
The Wolf King’s voice was eerie, like a distorted mechanical sound.
“What, think I’m easy pickings because I’m alone?”
“Grr, prey. Tear it apart.”
The 40 Silver Fangs spread out wide, pressing in from all directions.
The Wolf King, arms crossed, watched the situation unfold.
Self-proclaimed ‘king’ that it was, it wouldn’t step in until its Silver Fangs had drained the prey’s stamina.
*Dumb beast. That arrogance will be your noose.*
[Using Sharp Claws.]
[Using Armor.]
Gray Armor enveloped my body, and my claws extended sharply.
Three minutes later.
Only two remained standing: the Wolf King and me. [T/N: Madara Uchiha’s vibes]
I’d bled from attacks that even [Armor] couldn’t fully block. [T/N: Okay, maybe I overreacted]
But despite the appearance, I was in top condition. [T/N: Or did I?]
I’d used [Devour] sporadically while taking down the Silver Fangs.
The bleeding was significant, but it wasn’t enough to hinder combat just yet.
“Stop posing and come at me, you mutt.”
I flicked my right hand tauntingly.
* * *
Wolf King Seorin judged by instinct.
‘King. Moves. Last.’
It planned to step in only after the Silver Fang pack had sapped Jin-Ho’s strength as much as possible.
Underlings were replaceable.
What mattered was the king’s safety!
The Wolf King stayed out of the fight until every last Silver Fang fell.
“Yelp!”
The moment the final Silver Fang collapsed, Jin-Ho flicked his right hand.
“Stop posing and come at me, you mutt.”
“Grrr!”
The Wolf King unleashed another howl.
Jin-Ho’s shoulders trembled slightly.
The debuff effect of the howl shook his body.
The Wolf King kicked off the ground.
The distance between them closed in an instant.
‘Grrr. Prey. Exhausted.’
Jin-Ho, drenched in blood.
The Wolf King assumed Jin-Ho had burned through his stamina fighting 40 Silver Fangs.
Even for a king like itself, facing 40 Silver Fangs would be taxing.
No matter how impressive Jin-Ho’s abilities seemed, it was certain he couldn’t beat the Wolf King in a weakened state.
“Grr!”
The Wolf King swung its right arm.
Jin-Ho crossed both arms in an X to guard.
Gray Armor covered his skin.
*Clang!*
Sparks flew as claws collided with Armor.
A strength far surpassing that of the Silver Fangs.
The Armor’s durability dropped by 70%.
Yet the Wolf King wasn’t satisfied with the result.
‘One strike. Can’t break.’
Ordinary attacks wouldn’t deal a fatal blow to Jin-Ho.
The Wolf King raised its left arm high.
[Strike Shot]
A white aura enveloped its claws.
[Strike Shot] was a skill that partially ignored equipment defense to deal direct damage.
‘Strange Armor. Try using it again.’
The Wolf King smirked confidently and swung its forepaw.
*Whoosh!*
Its claws sliced through empty air instead of Jin-Ho’s Armor.
Jin-Ho had stepped back just enough to dodge by a hair’s breadth.
“Knew you’d do that.”
Jin-Ho immediately stepped forward.
He lunged at the Wolf King’s wide-open chest, thrusting his straightened hand forward.
[Sharp Claws]
[Mighty Strike]
Claws enhanced with Mana for greater cutting power.
Combined with [Mighty Strike] drawn from the Uturi Saga, they stabbed into the Wolf King’s heart.
*Thud!* The Wolf King’s eyes widened.
A searing pain, like a brand scorching its chest.
Jin-Ho’s claws tore through muscle, digging toward the heart.
“Kaaaooo!”
The Wolf King twisted its body.
It barely avoided a direct hit to its heart, but the critical wound was already enough to impair combat.
“What, not having a good day?”
Jin-Ho shook his right arm and sneered.
“Grrrr.”
Bloodshot veins turned the Wolf King’s eyes red.
It swung its forepaws relentlessly.
“Guess the pain’s got you blind.”
*Clang! Clang!*
Jin-Ho calmly blocked the Wolf King’s onslaught with [Armor], one strike at a time.
Regenerating Armor in the same spot required a one-minute cooldown.
So, he blocked with unarmored parts of his body and slashed the Wolf King’s skin with his sharp claws.
With each exchange, the Wolf King’s wounds multiplied.
“Grrr. Human. Weak. But how?”
The Wolf King unleashed [Strike Shot] again.
It was confident that a single hit could shred Jin-Ho’s Armor-protected body.
But [Strike Shot] never landed on Jin-Ho.
“Here’s the thing—you’ve got a habit when you fight.”
“Grrr?”
“You pull your arm way back when you’re about to use a skill.”
Jin-Ho had already memorized the Wolf King’s stats and skill patterns.
Even without being a regressor, any five-year veteran player would know this.
The real question was whether you could internalize that knowledge and act on it…
For Jin-Ho, a former Monarch-class player among the strongest, it was child’s play.
“Grrrr! I. Am. King!”
[T/N: Any man who must say, “I am the King”, is no true king. “Tywin Lannister”]
Despair tinged the Wolf King’s silver eyes.
This couldn’t be.
It had used its minions to drain his stamina, yet there wasn’t a hint of exhaustion in Jin-Ho’s movements.
If anything, as the fight dragged on, it was the Wolf King whose breathing grew ragged.
“Awoooo!!”
With a monstrous roar, the Wolf King charged.
A final, all-or-nothing attack.
Blinding speed.
Twice its usual charge, it was certain Jin-Ho couldn’t dodge.
“Thanks for making this easier.”
At that moment.
A smile on Jin-Ho’s lips filled the Wolf King’s vision.
[Agile Hind Legs]
The Horned Rabbit’s ability manifested in Jin-Ho’s body.
*Thump!* The distance between them stayed constant.
Jin-Ho matched the Wolf King’s charge, pulling back just enough.
As the Wolf King’s strength waned.
“It’s about time to become my prey.”
Jin-Ho stabbed the wound he’d made earlier.
The Wolf King, notorious in the tutorial stage as a player-killer.
A boss monster that required at least two skilled teams to hunt reliably—felled by a single person.
