“Francis. What are you planning? Do you intend to buy that one?”

“No, senior. I already bought the Giant Minotaur from that child. Researching that should easily take up the next ten years.”

Read Dimensions

These days, the Landes Magic Tower was busy researching the corpse of the Giant Minotaur. It would not be an exaggeration to say that every mage of 5th Circle and above affiliated with the Landes Magic Tower was devoted to that research.

“Bison, you’re the only one left. What will you do? Do you plan to buy it or not?”

“I’m out. Old hag.”

“Then it’s only me now. Mage Rodin, how much are you planning to sell it for? I will offer nearly everything within reason.”

The gaze of Tower Lord Tamia locked onto Rodin. She had the look of someone willing to give any decent amount—her eyes were confident.

Chronoa Magic Tower was one of the Four Great Towers. It was a place capable of purchasing even something like a Giant Wyvern.

“I haven’t thought about the price. Same as with the Giant Minotaur. Landes Magic Tower gave me a bunch of artifact materials. Tower Lord Tamia, if you could do the same, that would be fine.”

“You’re saying I should prepare something appropriate myself, huh?”

“Yes. I’m not really familiar with the pricing. Ah! I’m staying at the Dream Inn in the County of Aramia. I plan to stay about ten more days.”

He even told her where to deliver it. All that was left was to wait leisurely and see how generous Tower Lord Tamia would be.

“I will give enough to satisfy you, Mage Rodin. It won’t be lacking. Hohoho.”

“That would be appreciated. Also, Tower Lord Francis.”

“You have something to say to me?”

“I saw that you left the cleanup of the curse in the Richmond Marquisate to me. I came to give a report on that now.”

When he met Tower Lord Francis, the first thing that came to mind was reporting about the disposal of the cursed medallions, which were the medium of the curse.

For Rodin, the journey to the Kingdom of Rain for a report was more troublesome than the argument with Tower Lord Bison.

“Why are you trying to report that here? If the order came from the Landes Magic Tower, you should report it there.”

“I’m certain the instruction came from you, Tower Lord. If not, deny it in your name.”

“You’re a sharp one.”

“It seems Tower Lord Francis has forgotten I’m a Grand Mage. Do you think there is anyone besides you in the Landes Magic Tower who could issue a command to a Grand Mage?”

The command had clearly come from the Landes Magic Tower, where they knew full well that Rodin was a 7th Circle mage. It would be strange not to know who came up with the idea.

“Then you must also know why I gave that order?”

“Yes. I understand. It means you wanted me to stop by the tower once.”

“And yet you insist on reporting here?”

“Yes. I must report here. The Landes Magic Tower is too far, being in Hakna.”

Assigning the cleanup of the curse to Rodin was due to Tower Lord Francis’ personal greed.

From the Richmond Marquisate to Hakna, even on horseback, the journey took a full month. From the County of Aramia, it was somewhat closer, but still about 20 days. A round trip would be 40 days.

Rodin had no intention of wasting such a long time on the road. If he had no business nearby, he even considered skipping the report altogether.

“Tch. Just for a quick visit, then.”

“Not quick. I will make the report. All the medallions, the medium of the curse, have been destroyed. The source of the curse was Barclay Richmond of the Richmond Marquisate, and a healer named Segan. An ancient soul…”

Rodin began reporting, one by one, the facts he had uncovered in the Richmond Marquisate. Tower Lords Tamia and Bison, nearby, were also listening.

“Wait a moment. So you’re saying an ancient soul took over a body? Is that what you mean?”

“Yes. That’s correct. It should’ve been in the report from the Richmond Marquisate.”

“Hmm. Looks like I overlooked it. Hmmph.”

“This is not something to take lightly. I must meet the Marquis of Richmond.”

Rodin knew the Tower Lords would be surprised at the content. Each tower would carry out their own investigation from here. Rodin had no further reason to intervene.

“Then I’ll be going now. Until next time.”

“Wait. I have something to ask as well.”

“Yes, please ask.”

“What is this, exactly? It looks like a magic spell you used.”

Around Rodin, particles of light still flowed like waves. It was a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

“It’s a defensive magic. Tower Lord Bison over there used Inferno Flame. I cast this to block it.”

“Hmm, it’s beautiful.”

“So this is a defensive spell, you say. Hohoho, a spell worth coveting.”

Though Tower Lord Francis was impressed, it was Tower Lord Tamia who showed particular interest.

She had realized that beyond its external beauty, the persistence embedded in the magic was far from ordinary.

Yet she refrained from asking what the spell incantation was. As the heads of Magic Towers, they knew that such a question would be a breach of etiquette.

“May I go now?”

“One more thing. Can you really use teleportation?”

Though Rodin had said he could use teleportation, Tower Lord Francis didn’t believe it. Nor did Tower Lord Bison.

The concept of ‘space’ itself was notoriously difficult in magic.

Outside the era of the Ancient Magic Empire, artifacts related to space had almost never appeared. Even among the mages recorded in history, very few had freely manipulated space.

“Yes. I can. There are still some issues, though.”

“Issues?”

“The mana consumption is too high. I’d say the efficiency is lacking, perhaps?”

Rodin’s teleportation was still not perfected. It had issues with mana efficiency and an overly long casting time.

“Still impressive. I thought only two places in the world knew of such magic. May I see it for myself?”

“I’ll really go now. By teleportation. That will suffice, yes?”

“Let’s see it.”

“May we meet again under good circumstances. Mage Rodin.”

Tower Lord Tamia smiled and waved her hand. She looked like a grandmother seeing off her beloved grandchild.

Rodin deliberately chanted the teleport spell slowly. He even made a pained expression, pretending the spell was still unstable.

“I’m going then. Teleport.”

Rodin’s figure vanished before the mages in an instant. As if he had never been there at all.

Once Rodin disappeared, the eyes of Tower Lord Tamia, who had been smiling until just moments ago, widened.

“He just vanished?”

“What’s the matter?”

“It’s different from my teleportation.”

The teleportation used by Tamia’s Chronoa Magic Tower erased a person and recreated them in another location. That’s why when using teleportation magic, a person would gradually dissolve.

But Rodin had simply vanished. With no precursor movement, as though he had never existed there.

Tower Lord Tamia had never seen a teleportation magic of that kind.

“Is that important?”

“It’s fascinating, that it’s a different form of teleportation than mine.”
