Before the illusory image of the opened Veil of Death, the Dark Witch raised her hands.

Her ashen face was contorted to its limits with excitement, black mist swirling around her body.

She seemed to see every spell, to see the moment her great master descended, to see the end of this world.

“Tremble, mortals!” she shouted madly, her voice hoarse, waving her arms and wand wildly.

“All things shall perish! The Great Lord is about to descend! Kneel and accept judgment — you shall witness with your own eyes the final fate of this fragile world! Embrace death! Offer your flesh and soul to the master, and your sins shall be forgiven!”

With every sentence she spoke, the wand in her hand unhesitatingly pointed at a single person.

With each movement, a chilling green light flashed, and another Dark wizard in the plaza instantly died.

The soul wailed as it left the corpse, rushing towards the Veil of Death amidst the Dark Witch’s howls and maniacal laughter.

This was the very scene from long ago, when the Ravenclaw family had once opened the Veil!

As the magic progressed, echoes of past welcomes merged with the present reality, until the two became indistinguishable.

Harry felt as though his body had lost all warmth, engulfed by endless cold and despair.

He felt that the magic the Dark witch was performing now was even more evil than the ritual Voldemort had used upon his return. At the very least, Voldemort had not killed so many people — his spell had required only his father’s bone, his servant’s flesh, and Harry’s blood.

By comparison, it had been almost merciful. Even the method was absurdly simple — boiling everything in a cauldron…

Harry couldn’t believe he would ever feel Voldemort was merciful.

But compared to the Dark Witch’s magic, Voldemort’s resurrection magic truly had been merciful.

The Dark Witch was killing and slaughtering others, and those she was killing were her own companions. What terrified Harry most was that none of the Dark wizards below ran away. It was as though they were under the most powerful Imperius Curse, willingly allowing themselves to be killed — some even ecstatic, voluntarily offering up their lives.

Like the Dark Witch herself, they shouted in excitement, vying to be killed by her.

Many of the Dark Wizards — Harry couldn’t even tell if they were under magical control or acting willingly — were actually committing suicide!

Using the most primitive and cruel method imaginable, they were tearing their own throats open with their bare hands.

It was truly horrifying!

What worried Harry even more was the Dark Witch’s ongoing magic; she seemed to be resurrecting the terrifying monster phantom in the sky!

And Harry realized that at some moment, the evil god’s statue that had been hovering overhead was gone.

Where had it gone?!

Harry twisted his body, trying to look around, but he could not muster even the slightest strength.

He called out to the black-robed wizard with a hood standing opposite him, begging him to come over and release him.

From the very beginning, Harry had felt that this person was Ron!

Absolutely!

He knew Ron so well; even with his face covered, Harry could still recognize him.

Ron seemed stunned by the scene before him, or perhaps still under the influence of the Imperius Curse.

No matter how Harry called out, he didn’t respond, just stood there, lost in thought.

The only thing that brought Harry a little relief and comfort was that Ron hadn’t joined the group of madmen below.

As the Dark wizards died and the magic continued, the eerie green glow in the sky was replaced by a sinister crimson light, and countless tentacles, seemingly appearing from nowhere, tightly coiled around the Veil of Death.

One of the tentacles brushed past Harry’s body, passing straight through him — the sensation was indistinguishable from reality.

The tentacles pierced into the Veil of Death, and the ancient runes carved into the two massive stone pillars on either side began to appear faster and faster.

Now, the Dark Witch had obtained the complete incantation required to open the gate.

The Ravenclaw family’s magic was complete, but her magic did not stop; instead, it became even more frenzied.

She brandished her wand, unleashing several green curses that instantly killed all the remaining Dark wizards below the platform.

Apart from herself, Harry, and Ron, there was no one alive.

It was time!

She knew that when the vanished statue of the evil god reappeared, her master would descend upon this world.

The Great Lord would descend again, bringing endless chaos and destruction.

“Hahaha! Your doomsday has arrived! No mortal will live to witness this!”

“Devour them, Great Lord — and descend…”

The Dark Witch shouted the last sentence with almost all her might, raising her hands high as she awaited the appearance of the statue of the evil god.

Nothing could stop her now!

Whatever that surge of magic in the castle had been earlier, she had completed the entire ritual.

And her master, the Devouring God, would surely devour Herpo’s power and return here in a new guise.

The Raven’s Claw’s thousand-year-long plan was about to succeed!

Under the guidance of the Devouring God, they would shatter the shackles binding their master, welcome him back to the world, and usher in the judgment of the apocalypse.

The Dark Witch’s call seemed to be answered; the next second, a powerful light appeared in the air.

Harry looked up, his face filled with despair.

The Dark Witch also raised her head towards the light — what powerful magical radiance! This had to be the return of the Great Lord.

BOOM!!!

A beam of magic shot in from the direction of the Ravenclaw family’s castle, streaking straight towards the Dark Witch and the Veil of Death.

The Dark Witch’s eyes widened; the contorted skin of her face slackened as she stared in disbelief at the massive beam of light hurtling towards her.

She sensed something was wrong; this did not feel like her master’s power!

How could this be?!

Almost in the blink of an eye, the powerful beam of light shot towards them.

It was like a shooting star streaking across the sky, or an arrow shot at full speed.

The Dark Witch stared in disbelief at the beam of light, feeling the suffocating magical power. She felt her spells unravel — every trace of magical light and energy was shattered in an instant by the incoming spell.

Her master…

Where was her master?

Where was her master?

Where was the Devouring God?

Where was the Great Lord’s arrival?

What was happening? What was this suddenly appearing beam of magic?!

She immediately realized that this beam of magic was also an apparition, a projection of the magic that had occurred a thousand years ago when the Ravenclaw family opened the Veil.

Damn it — what exactly had happened a thousand years ago?

She screamed hoarsely, summoning the statue of the Devouring God, but she immediately stopped. She realized that her power was no longer being fed back to her by the Devouring God as it had been before. Instead, a backlash of magic surged towards her, like roaring flames.

Intertwined blue and orange flames flared up around her, searing her magic and burning into her very soul…
