Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 325 (Part 2):
Right after Sian’s group returned to Greencana, Teresa immediately tracked them. Though the matter was settled for now, she wanted to ensure everything was in place.
However, she soon tilted her head in confusion.
“Strange. Four people entered Fidelis with Sian. There were five in total, so why are there only three here?”
The memories of those who had recognized them were strangely vague.
They remembered the presence of the two individuals but couldn’t recall their appearance.
Moreover, even when she tried to read the earth’s memories, she couldn’t. This meant that one of the two she hadn’t met was a mage more skilled than Teresa.
“Could it be…”
Inevitably, one mage came to mind.
Alea. Sian’s friend and the top of the magic department, a year below Teresa. The one who had made Teresa experience what eternal defeat felt like.
“Is Alea here…?”
After graduating from Greta Academy, despite being qualified for any position, there had been no news of Alea.
Alea had completely vanished. The same was true for Sian. It bothered her that both Alea and Sian, who were close, had disappeared at the same time.
Then wouldn’t they be together?
Teresa mentally added a powerful figure to Rodril’s side.
Though it was negative news, if the issues with Rodril were resolved smoothly, it wouldn’t matter much.
‘Then who’s the other one?’
A memory crept up. A cold boy with black hair and black eyes embedded in Teresa’s memories.
To think that a daughter of Duke Fidelis would be drawn to a commoner! That held special meaning even for the cold-hearted Teresa.
An emotion she could never have again. A memory of her youth when even she, calculating as she was, could like someone with pure feelings.
Strangely, she thought of that blonde man who had been standing in the village. Teresa tilted her head.
‘Hmm, is he my type too? Well, they did look somewhat alike.’
But this was no time to dwell on such thoughts; she was on the cusp of a significant endeavor.
Teresa shook her head, dismissing these unnecessary thoughts.
*
The night before she was to visit Greencana on the King of Veneta’s orders, Helmut was deep in thought, gripping the sword he had been swinging.
The night air was cold, making his mind even clearer. Stars twinkled cleanly in the sky. He sensed someone approaching.
“Helmut, what are you thinking about?”
A clear voice awakened his settled mind. Silver hair sparkled like cobwebs in the moonlight.
Alea. Helmut gazed at her steadily. Soon his lips parted.
“Black Hawk.”
“Why Black Hawk? Because of the remaining piece of information?”
“…No, that’s not it. I…”
Helmut’s eyebrows moved.
“From the shadows to the light. I was thinking about that.”
At some point while swinging his sword, that thought had flashed through his mind. Like a dot had been precisely placed in his head.
That dot gradually spread and grew in volume until it finally occupied his entire mind.
Black Hawk was an underground organization operating in the shadows. It gathered all sorts of people from criminals and troublemaking mercenaries to assassins and thugs.
While there were quite a few skilled members, the morality of most members was highly questionable.
It must have taken extensive preparation for them to emerge from darkness into light.
Though it’s still not completely achieved, the very fact that it’s possible had left an impression.
Even though they were both in the shadows, if Black Hawk were in the shadows, Helmut would be in the depths of a cave.
“If Black Hawk officially operating in the Kingdom of Veneta, Talon must be in Veneta too.”
He felt he should meet him. Though he wasn’t sure yet what to say when they met. Alea objected.
“You’re thinking of going to find him? What if Renosa or the Temple discovers your presence?”
Helmut’s black eyes gleamed coldly.
“I’m not afraid.”
“Neither am I.”
Alea responded. They were on the same side. The most trustworthy allies.
Elaga, who was sitting cat-like with his hindquarters down in a bread-baking position at one corner of the clearing, spoke up.
[I’m not afraid either. In fact, I’d like to have a good fight with those Temple folks. It’d be better than fighting against sacred barriers. Could be fun.]
The white cat’s eyes sparkled.
Fighting spirit. For Elaga, the most powerful demonic beast of the Forest of Roots, who rarely encountered worthy foes, the temple was a fresh and interesting opponent.
Though his existence might become a double-edged sword, threatening not only the Temple but other humans as well.
‘Balance… is it?’
Stepping out of the shadows to be recognized. To exist as themselves, not as a threat to nobility or commoners.
Just as Black Hawk gained recognition for their existence by cooperating with the King of Veneta, Helmut might be able to do something similar.
This was the first clue thrown to Helmut. He still couldn’t grasp how to follow this clue.
However, one thing was clear: Helmut was strong. Even stronger than Rodril. Strong enough that no one would dare challenge him.
That strength was the result of being abandoned once again to the Forest of Roots, where he had honed himself to the end. It was an undeniable power he had built up.
And Helmut wasn’t alone. Sian, Asuka, Charlotte, and Alea were by his side.
Even if Igrelle wasn’t exactly on their side, above all, there was Elaga.
“…Let’s do it.”
Whatever it took. So he wouldn’t have to hide from those who judged him guilty without cause.
Alea quietly took his hand.
