Helmut: The Forsaken Child - H.F.C Chapter 79 (Part 1)
Helmut was walking down the street with Sian.
Sian was excessively talkative. Whenever they crossed paths, he would chat about this and that and stick to Helmut, and even on a holiday, he had followed them all the way to Kudrow Mansion.
Helmut, who had come to Kudrow Mansion to report to his guardian, Ethan, about life at the academy and ended up having a meal with three of them.
“As expected, the food at Kudrow Mansion is delicious, worthy of its reputation. I was pleasantly surprised by how elegant the Mansion is.”
“Oh, really? You’re welcome. Enjoy your meal to your heart’s content.”
Ethan was pleased that Helmut had made another friend besides Alea, and one who seemed relatively normal at that.
Sian had a friendly demeanor and was good at socializing.
The somewhat awkward dining atmosphere had softened considerably, and he had contributed in his own way.
“Since it’s a rare holiday, how about exploring Baden?”
When Sian suggested this as they finished their meal, Ethan eagerly agreed.
“Yeah, Baden is a big city. It’s not just the bustling areas; it’s also good to explore different parts.”
Helmut reluctantly followed Sian.
“I guess this is what Darien sent me to the academy for?”
He thought while nodding, but his gaze wandered to the training ground.
Ethan’s private training ground at the academy was even better than Kudrow Mansion’s training ground, and he had been satisfied with that fact.
It was one thing he could confidently say was good about his ambiguous life at the academy.
Sian spoke indirectly.
“Aren’t you lucky, or should I say unlucky?”
“What do you mean?”
“Lucky that Instructor Ethan is your guardian. Unlucky that you have to leave this nice manor and live in a dormitory that’s like a stable. And that’s with an arrogant roommate.”
Most of what he said made sense, but there was one thing that bothered him.
“I have no problem with Alea.”
“Really? How is that even possible?”
It was an incredulous look.
Sian confessed that he had tried to become friends with Alea when he was a first-year, but Alea was only interested in his spirit skills and had no other interest, so he gave up.
Since then, Sian had firmly concluded that Alea was a cold-hearted person who couldn’t be friends with anyone.
He thought that Helmut, who seemed unresponsive, would just go along with whatever Alea said.
While that was a somewhat valid point, Helmut had gotten along reasonably well with Alea.
With no further argument, Helmut simply said, “Alea comes home late.”
“Yeah, and he’s tormenting me instead! I’ve summoned more spirits than I have in my whole life.”
“Your skills seem to have improved a bit?”
“You can feel it? My magic power has increased?”
“Yeah.”
“At this rate, I’ll surpass Alea and become the top student in the Magic Department. When that happens, I want to see the look on his face!”
Helmut thought it was a rather unlikely goal, but he didn’t want to crush Sian’s expectations.
They had been wandering the streets without a specific destination, buying snacks from street vendors, but they suddenly stopped in front of a dark alley.
Something staggered and rushed out from inside.
“What’s that!”
Sian exclaimed, stepping back behind Helmut in surprise. It was a familiar presence.
Helmut calmly stared ahead. The other party also realized someone was there and raised their gaze.
When their eyes met, they recognized each other.
“Crazy dog?”
“Who are you calling a crazy dog?”
The guy who had made the noise collapsed to the ground, panting heavily.
Sian approached him, looking puzzled. A bright light burst from his hand.
The figure revealed in the light was a sorry sight. Blood seeped through torn and tattered clothes.
It seemed like he had been seriously wounded. He had clearly been in a recent fight, even in Baden.
“What happened? You’re covered in blood. Why are you still fighting in this state?”
Sian assessed the situation by looking at the guy’s condition. It would be unreasonable to rush at him in this condition, even if he were called a crazy dog.
Asuka frowned.
“Who are you? It’s blinding, so get that weird thing out of here!”
The Light Spirit was shining brightly in front of Asuka. With his chin up, he looked at Asuka with curious eyes.
“Weird? This cute Light Spirit? Your words are too harsh.”
“You sissy bastard.”
“At least your mouth survived even if you’re about to die.”
Sian chuckled. Lately, he found himself talking to some strange characters.
“But why did you come out from there? What happened?”
“Something happened.”
That was when Asuka answered awkwardly.
“Over there!”
“There it is, everyone come here!”
“These persistent bastards.”
Asuka, who had been sitting down, got up while cracking his knuckles. He clenched and unclenched his fists and spoke seriously.
“Since we’re in this situation, why don’t you all help me a bit?”
His tone was as arrogant as a noble’s. It was the kind of attitude that made you want to turn away from helping.
Sian pointed out, “You should ask for help politely. Speaking like that will make people less inclined to help.”
“Are you going to pretend you didn’t see a fellow student in danger?”
“There’s a high chance you started the fight.”
“No! They attacked me in a group even though I didn’t have a sword!”
Asuka pointed his finger at the cowards rushing towards them from the other side.
Sian, who quickly assessed their faces, seriously said, “The ones attacking Greta Academy students in Baden? Looks like you’ve made some enemies.”
“I’ve made a few.”
Asuka retorted, and Helmut, who had observed his actions closely, agreed. Asuka snorted.
“What do you have to say?”
“I didn’t do it like you did.”
Asuka’s evasive answer made him bite his lip and glare at him.
He had become too weak. Thinking about seeking help from these guys! His temper flared.
“If you won’t help, at least lend me a sword! I’ll handle it myself.”
“Stay calm, patient. Let’s try to resolve this with words first.”
