I knew there was a sixth—but not once did I think of who it was.

Now that I look back, I remember the warnings that flashed every time I recalled something about the Monarchs:

◆ Player’s Will [EX] resists the Erased Traces!
◆ Player’s Will [EX] resists the Swallowing Darkness!
◆ Player’s Will [EX] resists the Void of Memory!
◆ Player’s Will [EX] resists the Stolen Cognition!

Back then, I couldn’t even realize it…

But I must’ve remembered it somehow.

As I recalled the information about the Monarch, the Dark Monarch must’ve naturally come to mind as well.

Yet, the moment I recalled it, even the fact that I had done so was ‘forgotten.’

Because Player’s Will [EX] didn’t grant complete immunity.

But thanks to Player’s Will [EX], I still knew of the existence of the Dark Monarch.

“Ian must’ve been the same.”

That’s why Ian couldn’t uncover the Dark Monarch either.

“But now it’s different.”

Not long ago, I obtained the Inheritor’s Will [EX] through Iliana’s teachings.

Now I could finally recognize the Dark Monarch.

My mental limit was Aleph-Null.

In other words, infinite.

Because the limit is infinite, it no longer fades into forgetfulness.

Even now, I’m recalling the Dark Monarch clearly.

And the fact that none of it is slipping from my memory or awareness is the proof.

With Player’s Will [EX], I forgot.

But ever since it became Inheritor’s Will [EX], it no longer fades from my mind.

If the Dark Monarch is involved with the Battenberg Kingdom this time, he will surely show himself.

“If I can just observe the Dark Monarch from the capital…”

Then I’ll be able to use Predatory Instincts [S].

The darkness that concealed the Dark Monarch will be torn apart, and the forgotten past and truth will be fully revealed.

The Emperor’s greatest and most dangerous variable will fall right into the palm of my hand—

From that moment on…

Aucta From Afar.
One who exists far beyond understanding and perception.

I will place the Emperor of the Empire upon the board I have laid out.

The Whitewolf County, cloaked in heavy darkness.

Serapia sat quietly at a small worktable, carefully threading her needle.

Her fingertips were covered in tiny pricks from the needle.

Yet even so, from those scarred fingertips, the silk was slowly being embroidered with delicate beauty.

The room was silent.

Serapia’s lively pink lips were tightly sealed, and her face and fingers were wrapped in an aura of deep focus.

Only the faint sound of thread weaving through fabric filled the room—until:

Knock knock.

—”May I come in?”

Came Adrian’s voice with the knock.

“Eep…!”

Startled, Serapia flinched hard, her focus shattered.

As she calmed her startled heart—

“Ah, yes! Please come in!”

She hurriedly stood up and cleared the items off the worktable.

That was exactly when Adrian stepped into the room.

“What were you doing?”

“Eh? I… just…”

She panicked, hastily throwing a cloth over the table.

Adrian’s gaze flicked to the covered table and then back to her.

A look that asked what were you doing?

…She felt she had to say something.

But her mind went completely blank.

There was no way she could say she had been making a handkerchief for Adrian.

“So, um… what brings you here?”

She pressed down on the covered cloth with both hands, trying to play it off.

Fortunately (or perhaps not), Adrian didn’t pry.

“A royal messenger came by earlier.”

He got straight to the point.

The warmth on Serapia’s face quickly turned to tension.

A royal messenger.

She knew what that meant.

“His Majesty has summoned us both regarding Father’s will.”

“His Majesty…?”

“And additionally, Her Majesty the Queen has invited you to the royal social circle.”

“…Pardon?”

Serapia tilted her head to the side in confusion.

The Queen herself invited her to the royal social circle?

“E-Eh…?”

It was hard to make sense of it all.

There was barely any explanation—it was like most of the context had been chopped away entirely.

“So get ready to leave for the capital.”

But Adrian was firm.

“We’ll travel by carriage. Only the minimum necessary guards and a few maids to assist you will accompany us.”

“So… just the two of us are going?”

“Yes.”

“……”

“We can’t afford to pull many people from the County right now.”

The County had only just taken its first step toward recovery.

Pulling people away now would hinder work and daily life.

That would deal a serious blow to the County’s revival.

“R-Right. I understand the situation.”

“Endure any inconvenience.”

“No! That’s not what I meant. I just…”

Serapia trailed off, lowering her head.

But her lips trembled involuntarily.

“…What’s the problem?”

“It’s nothing! Really, it’s nothing!”

She frantically waved her hands in denial, even faking a little cough.

Luckily again, Adrian didn’t seem to think much of it.

“We leave in a week. Make sure everything is prepared.”

With that, Adrian turned around and left.

Once he was gone—

Serapia quickly shut the door and leaned against it, covering her face with both hands.

‘What do I do…!’

Her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might explode.

And understandably so—

‘Just the two of us…!’

This was like a dream come true!

Even at top speed, the journey from Whitewolf County to the capital would take at least two weeks.

So just the round trip would be one month.

Which meant she’d be traveling with Adrian for at least a month.

And that was at least.

If anything happened during the trip, the time could stretch even longer.

Not to mention the time spent staying in the capital…

‘What do I doooo…!!’

Just thinking about it made her cheeks burn.

Even imagining it filled her with so much energy it was almost overflowing.

‘C-Calm down. Calm down…!’

Serapia tried to suppress her excitement consciously, but—

‘Kyaa…!!!’

There was nothing she could do about her racing heart.
